@flowermower:  Do you have a passport? Turks and Caicos.  If not Hawaii would be great.

I live on the east coast, so Hawaii was out for budget reasons. The caribbean tends to be more affordable, depending on where you go. So I would say that it depends on your location and budget.

I have been to Hawaii 3x, but only Oahu… so I can’t speak for other islands. It is beautiful and definitely an experience! However; it is pretty expensive, so if you’re looking for something more budget friendly, the Caribbean may be more for you this time around. I am going on another Caribbean cruise  this year, and it will make my 3rd time there as well.

Hawaii: awesome food and unique restaurants, out of this world scenery and beautiful things like going inside of a volcano, visiting the Dole Plantation, North Shore ( famous surf spot), great shopping, golf, of course the beaches, the Polynesian Cultural Center and going to a Luau is so much fun, and historical sights like Pearl Harbor are very, very moving.  The accomodations can be anything from Days Inn to the Hilton, and you still get that experience that you would expect being in Hawaii.

Caribbean: the beachs are phenomenal, seriously. The culture and atomosphere is very island style ( which I love) and it is a lot less expensive than Hawaii. I found the food to be pretty good, although let’s be honest– I am all about the pina colada when on a tropical vacation, so as long as that is on par, I will eat sand. Down side to parts of the Caribbean would be that once you venture off of the cruise ships or away from the resort areas, it can be very impoverished, and in some cases dangerous. People WILL approach you on the beach to try and sell you trinkets.

As far as excursion type of things like snorkeling or horseback riding on the beach, the Caribbean will be much more affordable with those type of things. Hawaii does offer them, but it will cost you a little more. If you’re looking for a relaxing, food and scenery type of honeymoon, I would say Hawaii.

Hope this helps some!

We went to the Carribean, but I REALLY wanted to go to Hawaii!

But the Carribean had better cruise options…

We did a 7 days cruise that stopped at 6 islands (Puerto Rico embark/disembark, St Thomas, St Lucia, St Maarten, St Kitts, and Barbados) and we spend three days after the cruise hanging out in Old San Juan in Puerto Rico!

@flowermower:  Where are you flying from??  We live on the east coast and we’re going to the Bahamas.  If we lived on the west coast, I’d definitely go to Hawaii.  I’d want my honeymoon to start as soon as possible, no long flights!

I’ve only been to Hawaii once but we stayed in Oahu the entire time.  It was gorgeous and so diverse – Honolulu has all the city amenities and tall buildings but the other side of the island is more relaxed and green.  Some friends of mine spent their honeymoon at the Turtle Bay resort on Oahu and raved about it!

@flowermower:  If  you want to go somewhere tropical go big and do Hawaii, Turks & Caicos, or Bora Bora! We cut costs for our wedding so we can splurge on our honeymoon.
