We have booked a hotel for a week on Maui and Kauai. But we want to may day trips to the other islands to see a few things. Anyone else do this? How did you go about it? Do we need to set up transportation to the other island ahead of time? How much did it cost you?

we found that iflygo.com offered the cheapest inter-island airfare for our honeymoon last august. i believe it was around $120 to fly between oahu and big island, and about $100 between oahu and maui.
hope that helps!

You’ll definitely need transportation ahead of time. The flights between the islands are short, but you should have a plan of where you want to go and what you want to do. From Maui, there are lots of direct flights to Oahu, but only one each day to the Big Island. From Kauai, there are really only direct flights to Oahu. If you’re interested in Molokai or Lanai, you can get there via ferry or plane from Maui or via plane from Oahu. When are you going to be here? Hawaiian Airlines and Mokulele Airlines are offering specials for February – only $28 each way. If you sign up for the emails from these carriers and Go! as mentioned by the previous poster, you may be able to find a deal. Good luck – PM me if you want more specifics – I live here.

Thanks Ankile! We put in for my parents timeshare for the two weeks we plan on being in Hawaii in end of July/August of next year. But because its the time share you put the time in and wait for someone to trade weeks with you (well at least thats my understanding) so we don’t know yet if we will be in Maui the first week or second week and same with Kauai. I will take your advice though and sign up for their emails!! Thanks for all your help!!

We used Go! in June when we were in Hawaii (iflygo.com). Barely anyone uses Go! (most use Hawaiian Airlines as it is more well-known) but who cares they both get you from here to there. Go! is usually about $20 cheaper per person I found when we were looking.

When we went to Hawaii, we did the cruise. This worked great because you had a traveling hotel room and got to spend days on different islands.

Ooo, you’re going to LOVE Hawaii!
We went to Maui recently, and booked a day cruise to Lanai. It was awesome! We landed on a secluded part of the island where we could snorkel and swim and basically just relax. I definitely recommend it!
