My fiancé and had to move our wedding up by two months. So i had to forget about the gorgeous Haley Paige Elysia dress I had tried on, Bc even with a rush it was too late to order.
So I switched gears and sought a seamstress to make the perfect dress. Well, I went to my first fitting and it was a disaster! The ‘dress’ bodice looked a bit like an old-timey corset. It was made out of nude lace instead of ivory and the fit was dismal. The cups linings were very think and squishy, paunchy. It looked like I had English muffins over my bust.
The seamstress has agreed to start over (I’veAlready given her a size able deposit). But now I don’t know if I trust her. With only 12 weeks before my wedding I’m anxious I won’t have a dress that I feel confident in. Its been keeping me awake at night.
So advice or helo please!
Do I stay the course and hope the next iteration will be what I need? Do I ask her to stop working so she doesn’t waste her time making a dress I cant wear and I don’t waste my money paying her to do that.
And what to do if I decide not to stick with the seamstress?
I could buy a backup dress, from china on the cheap, but I haven’t found one I love and am afraid of purchasing something I can’t see it try on.
I’m still looking for a used Hayley Paige, but the styles I love, Elysia and Chantelle are new enough there aren’t many out there. If you own one of these dresses and are willing to sell it, please pm me.
Thanks for your help and advice Bees!

Did you get pics of the other dress or was it just that bad and not salvageable at all?

I did not take any pictures of it. I wish I had. She hadn’t attached the bodice to to skirt, so the fitting was just for the top.

Could you try to see if any salons that carry your top two dresses have samples they’d sell you?

I didn’t know that they did that. I can always call around. thanks for the advice!

Are there any other similar HP styles from a previous collection you may be able to find pre-owned? I feel like a lot of her dresses have a very similar style, though im not sure what that specific dress looks like.
I would personally try to hunt something down in a similar style that you know you love as opposed to being nervous it won’t turn out good.

i would try to get an off the rack sample dress from a salon, if you’re lucky enough to be close to the sample sizes offered.

Drop the seamstress! If that was how her work was the first time then it won’t change. I would just browse the dresses that you can buy off the rack (even though the selections are usually limited) and maybe adjust a few things if you didn’t find the one. I know this sucks though, hayley paige is my favorite! Goodluck xx

marybo: you could achieve the same look with separates.
Martina Liana Blake bodysuit:
BHLDN Almira skirt:
The skirt you could get quickly as it’s online ordering.
Not sure about the bodysuit – but in theory should be quicker as separates are quicker to make. And they do rush order.
Plus there’s the samples option as well.

I second buying the store sample–you can often get them at a discount, too! Both bridal salons I went to said they would let me buy the sample if I wanted… one only offered a 10% discount but the other gave 50% (where I ended up buying my dress!)
