This is my first time posting on the boards – woo hoo!
I waited 11 long years to get engaged, but now am blissfully enjoying finally being a bride!
I have run into a bit of a conundrum. I made a classic “new bride” mistake and purchased a wedding dress at my very first appointment on my very first day of trying on dresses… and then I fell in love with ANOTHER dress. Oye.
I still LOVE the dress I bought, but I am thinking I may now want to wear it for my reception instead of the ceremony.
The issue is that I cannot justify the cost of buying two BRAND NEW dresses. My (now reception, maybe..) dress cost $5k (eek). I was okay paying this back when I thought it would be my ceremony AND reception dress.
But then… I fell in love… with Hayley Paige’s Guindon (the no-stripes version). Siiighhhh.
I tried it on yesterday, and loved it even more. I brought a friend with me who knows I already bought another dress, and she said I “DEFINITELY” need to get the Guindon for my ceremony.
I feel like if I can find this dress used, I will be able to justify the cost of buying one more dress rather than buying two brand new dresses for a one-day wedding.

Anyone else had a similar problem where you fell in love with another dress after you already bought one? What did you do?

Also, for reference, here’s pics of my (maybe) Reception dress! It’s Allure Couture C330. I bought it from a trunk show and was told I am the very first bride to buy this dress!! It is straight off the runway from fashion week from their new Spring 2015 collection.
I ordered it in Ivory.

OMG the dress you purchased is amazing!! You look gorgeous. I questioned the dress I bought every day up until my order came in and then I got to try it on after 6 months and realized why i fell in love with it in the first place! I think the first dress is nice but the second is breathtaking and will show off your figure much better than the first! If I were you I would stick with the first one. If you love your fiance you dont keep searching for better ones, so who cares if you bought the first time! I mean LOOK AT THAT SPARKLE!!! Girl your crazy!! lol!

Did you try on the Londyn gown? The materials are different, but it still has the skirt shape you want. I think the stripeless Guindon is more rare, so will be more difficult to find preowned.

Thank you so much!! I really do LOVE my Allure dress. I guess I am struggling with this decision because the Hayley Paige looked amazing on me for different reasons… it was just so romantic and has that “ball gown bride” feeling I love. I am so torn!

I did try the Londyn, and it was really beautiful, too! I would say it is a close second to the Guindon. But, I don’t know if I loved the Londyn enough to get a second dress. Does that make sense?
Argh, no one told me wedding dress decisions would be so hard!

WOWZERS! The dress you 1st bought is BEAUTIFUL! and looks amazing on you. Im not too fond of the color but looks great. I’d stick to the original dress.

Thank you!!! It really is a stunning dress!! I do not regret that dress at ALL! I am only toying with the idea of a ceremony dress after how much I loved the Guindon when I tried it on yesterday (PS, they wouldn’t let me take pictures in that store… annoying… why do places do that?? ugh).
Also, I ordered the Allure dress in Ivory, even though it’s Champagne colored in these pics.

Oh my goodness! I know your post is about the Hayley Paige, but that reception dress is to die for! it’s BEAUTIFUL!!

A few more pics of the Allure dress I bought, cell phone camera pics so not as great of quality.

Thank you thank you!! Haha I am new to the boards, so I am not sure how to edit my post… I’m thinking I should change the title. The Allure dress definitely deserves a spotlight of its own!!
You all are definitely making me feel better about my decision to buy the Allure dress!! Maybe I won’t need a Guindon after all? haha

The Guindon is beautiful, but I LOVE the Allure dress! If I were you, I’d want to spend as much time as possible wearing that one! It’s unique without being too far out there, it looks gorgeous on you – I really, really dig it.

your dress is so beautiful! Stuck with the one you have! And stop trying dresses on, your wedding is stil quite a while away, you’re asking for trouble! lol
seriously though, the allure dress has more of a wow factor for me. X

Stick with the Allure! its AMAZING! plus most brides feel a little dress regret after buying their dress so it’s normal, the key is to stop looking!
Thanks so much! You’re honestly right… it is so unique, you and everyone else’s comments are really making me think I will be just fine without the Guindon and just sticking with the dress I initially fell in love with.
Haha, I know, I know… I need to stop trying on. The only reason I tried on the Guindon is because it was a dress I loved long before I ever bought my Allure. I feel like I would have always wondered if I never tried it on. But of course, now this means I am torn whether to get a ceremony dress or just rock my Allure all night long!
Good point… the dress regret feeling is normal. Although I have to say, I don’t regret my Allure dress, I am more just questioning whether it’s an appropriate reception dress and if I want something more “ballgown-esque” for my ceremony. Prior to buying my Allure dress, I had ALWAYS pictured myself in a ballgown and was shocked when I tried on the Allure and fell in love with it. I also for a very long time prior to ever being engaged had always thought I would be the type of bride to wear a Ceremony dress and then later a Reception dress, hence my internal debating with myself over the Guindon.
I hate being such an indecisive bride/person! haha
Thank you ALL so so much for the comments though… I cannot tell you how much it means to hear such praise for the dress I did choose. It is making me think that maybe the Allure is all the dress I need thanks to you girls!
