I’ve been hanging around the waiting boards for a while now and I have to say that without the lovely ladies there I think I would’ve lost my mind.
On Saturday we landed in Northern Ireland to visit my grandparents. We’d already decided to go up to the Giant’s Causeway on this visit because I’ve always wanted to go. I was a bit stressy that morning; low on sleep we almost missed our flight (the airport is usually a ghost town on that flight!) and then I was nervous about driving an unknown car in an unknown place. The weather was also a bit naff but OH had confirmed we were going to go regardless and Saturday was going to be the best day that weekend.
Once we were on the road I settled down, and we started off in the seaside village of Portrush where the sun came out and we did a little rock pooling (I’d forgotten how much I like rock pooling) and had a lovely lunch. Then we went on to Dunluce Castle and explored the ruins. The next stop was Giant’s Causeway.
It turns out the Causeway is actually pretty small; I expected lots of these very tall columns but actually they weren’t hgue at all. It was also quite busy so after a brief climb on the Causeway itself we headed up the cliff to get a good view. We couldn’t go any further on the path (danger of rock slides forced them to close that section off) and turned back. After a few strides he pulled my hand to slow me and I heard “silly question”, my heart skipped a beat and I turned to see him getting down on one knee with a ring box, and then he said “will you marry me?”
I said yes!
This is the view from more or less where he proposed:
I have to confess I’m not certain it’s sunk in yet.. I got the giggles in the car driving home from work today because I realised I would be getting married. Maybe I went mad afterall! 🙂
