From a waiting bee- Ok, so my SO has been looking at rings and about a month ago had picked one out. Our two year anniversary was celebrated last weekend and he said that he’s now torn between 3 different rings and can’t decide- BUT he doesn’t want to let me know which ones he likes so he wants to go to the jeweler and let me show him what I like and see if any of them match. He’s a total nutcase, I know. The ring I originally wanted is an antique 3-carat TW 3-stone ring, but as of YESTERDAY it is no longer at the estate jeweler’s! 🙁 So being the odd one that I am, I went and took a peek without him… And I really really liked one that I found. It fit perfectly (1.5 Carat center in a lovey antique setting) and then I saw the price and was like, “Why the heck is this so cheap?… ” It was lovely and sparkly and has nice color… Turns out, it has a small chip, which the jeweler showed me with the loup. It’s very small and he said they could even it out if they sent it to be recut- it wouldn’t reshape the diamond but just even out the chipped area, which is barely visible to the naked eye. The setting is very intricate and it was very hard to see the chip, but the diamond had been in this setting for over 100 years and I looooove the ring. Has anyone had a similar experience with a diamond? I’m scared. Should I keep looking or consder this option? So excited to be so close!!!
