..notice I said “a” ring, not “the” ring.
I already wear a ring on THE finger….it’s beautiful and I wear it to basically fend off unwanted attention. It works, except girls usually oogle over it & I have to explain it’s notttt an engagement ring…it’s actually just a pretty ring his motherrr gave to me.
The only complaint I have about the “mother” ring is that it’s yellow gold & while that might be your cup o’ tea…it’s not mine! I’m a white gold/”you had me at platinum” kind of girl 😉
..Thus steps in Mr.Lovah who knows my love for not-yellow gold rings!.. to sweep me off my feet (after getting on one knee of course) and ask me to spend the rest of my life with him….Right?? WRONG.
Instead, Mr.Lovah sees a B-E-A-utifull ring for an A-W-E-somee deal at Macy’s on Black Friday! Sweet! Perfect! Excepttttt for one HUGE catch: Black Friday means waking up at the crack of dawn to mill around with a bunch of crazy women who will do ANYTHING for a bargain. YIKES! Speaking of cup o’ tea’s…this is like a cup o’ sour milk for Mr.Lovah. “No thanks, I’d rather pay $6000 more for the ring, come again, maybe next time, blah blah blah.” Sooo naturally… in steps, Bride(hopefully-to-be-super-soon-but-probably-not-that-soon)BriBri. I LOVE Black Friday, I strategize every year with my sister and best friend. Wake up at THE crack of dawn, wait in extraordinarily long lines, suck down lots of caffeine boosted coffees, and try to practically finish my entire Christmas shopping list. So yes, long story short, I bought MYSELF the “not” ring. It’s beautiful & would love for it to BE an engagement ring but I’m pretty confident Mr.Lovah just thinks it will look pretty on my finger and actually has no intention of getting on one knee.
To make matters even worse…I would show you a picture of the dreamy “not” ring but as soon as I escaped from Black Friday.. Mr.Lovah quickly swooped in on my Macy’s bag, took the little black box away and I haven’t seen it since!! It IS beautiful and I DO love it and like I said, I would be totally THRILLED to wear it as my engagement ring but pretty sure, not the plan. It’s a square green amethyst surrounded by little baby diamonds on a white gold band. One of those rings that made my heart melt and my smile get bigger & bigger while I tried it on at the jewelry counter–absolute head-over-heels love at first site!
Some of my friends think that Mr.Lovah is goign to surprise me and he IS going to propose with it…but I’m trying not to get my hopes up. He always says that our engagement is going to be a “complete surprise”.He just keeps hinting that “isn’t he lucky he already has his Christmas gift for me!” and “I don’t even need to worry about getting wrapping paper for such a little box, I’ll just tie a bow around it.” or “it’ll even fit in your stocking!”…very much sounding like the ring is in fact a “not” ring that will be a fabulous Christmas present but definitely not a proposal!
So, this is HELLO my fellow bees-in-waiting…let the countdown begin!
