I’m Swedish and here the engagement is usually something you decide together as a couple. Both the man and woman wears an e-ring and they pick out the rings together. IF one decides to propose it’s an actual surprise! The one who is proposed to doesn’t know a thing.
When I first came on this forum and realised how common it is that the girl is involved in the ring and knows about the engagement coming up, but is still “waiting”… I thought it was so… silly! It’s so different from how we do it here in Scandinavia. But I understand that it’s a culture thing and I don’t want to mock anyone. It’s just so odd for a Scandinavian girl.
