because we’re using my late mother’s ring. It’s almost .75 center stone with a half halo 18k gold ring. I thought about resetting it into white gold, but I just couldn’t do it. For a long time, I thought people would think “Oh, a cocktail ring.” But I learned to love it as is. Heck, my mom got it custom made. Why ruin it? I admit that it took a long time to find a band to match, but I found a lovely yellow gold with some scrollwork that fits around the halo. It’s not totally flush, but I can’t wait to wear them together in August!

Wow, that is so pretty!!! I’m happy for you that you found a band to go with it, and I love that you’re honoring your mom by leaving it the way it is 🙂

Beautfiul!! Can’t wait to see what the band looks like with it!

Ooooh, it looks kind of art deco. I really like it–it has so much personality! Plus, how often does family jewelry with sentimental value coincide with trendiness at time of engagement? I think the stars are aligning in your favor 😉

I love that ring. It’s brilliant! We used my late mother’s ring, too, so I’m partial to the sentiment 🙂

I wouldn’t change a thing, that is one of the most original and elegant designs I’ve ever seen. It looks like all the highs and lows of life have led to this moment. Its like a journey design before they made the journey idea popular! SO nice!

That is definitely a beautiful ring and I’m glad you didn’t change it. I love how special and unique it is, seriously just fantastic.

@puppiekisses: It’s been a LONG journey for us. 11 years in fact! He was my rock and my shining light when my mom passed away in 2006. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I didn’t have him there for me during those dark days. Our birthdays are 4 days apart (3/12 and 3/16) and it wasn’t until this year that I didn’t cry. I’m so glad he asked if I wanted to wear her ring. <3

@miepanda: Aww that is so sweet and sentimental. A ring like that should be cherished and who better to do that than you? It’s beautiful enjoy it! And I love the fact that it’s yellow gold. If it went better with my skin I would’ve gone that route too.

Congratulations! You’re absolutely right in having no reservations about this ring because even if it didn’t have special sentimental value, it is absolutely gorgeous! But with the meaning behind it, it’s even more special. Seriously. Like, wow.
