Ahh!! My now Fiance and I went to a wedding last year in September. It was out of state and we forgot the giftcard at home. No worries I thought, we’ll just mail it as soon as we get back. The day we got back I gave the card to FH to slip in the mailbox. We never got a thank you card but I didn’t really know to be looking out for one. Let’s fast forward to about 15 min ago when I get a text from FH saying, “You’ll never guess what I found in my car!” I responded with a typical ? And he sends me this…”The card we got for blank and blank, I never sent it.” WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I feel SO embarressed now!!! On top of all of that I feel like if I call and tell her that we simply forgot, she’s going to think its just my way of asking for a present for my wedding. Stupid boys.

Call her and explain what your FI did. She will understand.

I think you should still send it! (and explain!) I know it was a long time ago, but I’m sure it would be received well. Plus, your wedding is a year away – if anything, the gesture will be kindly remembered (not like you are gift fishing!)

Idon’t think it’s a huge deal. I agree with the PP’s that she should understand. I would call her first, apologize & explain then send it & write something on it about your fiance misplacing the card. I’d try to downplay it by addind “silly boys” or something like that.
And be in charge of all cards & presents going forward. 😉

I think you should still send it and include a little note about what happened. My dads friends got us a gift card for our wedding that we got several months after because they forgot it was in their car until she pulled back the seat and saw it!

You could ask your FI to correct the situation by sending the card with a letter that explains what he did.

I don’t think it’s a big deal either — Believe it or not my FI did the same thing with his brother. He gave the card to this brother over a year later — I told his brother that my FI simply forgot to send it and he understood because everyone knows that my FI is forgetful and even lazy.
I think sending it with a quick note and a call should be alright.

Does the gift card have a receipt with it? Maybe if you have it, it’ll include the date, so they can clearly see that you purchased it last year!
