My beloved pet left this physical world today and went to “a better place,” I hope. I’m having a hard time being able to cope with it since it was sudden and unexpected. He had a GI blockage and went downhill very fast — too fast. I just don’t understand why he passed away as I burst into tears over him today. I hope I didn’t scare him or shock him, as I was crying really hard. I didn’t know it but all night we was trying to wake me up and when I did wake up he was at my bed side looking at me. He wouldn’t close his eyes at all due to shock from pain (I think). I feel terrible to have seen him like this. Anyone else coping with a loss? <3

It’s the same amount of pain as losing a family member. Crazy. He was so sweet and gentle. I miss him falling asleep next to me randomly and how fast he ran across the yard. His mate is sniffing every where for him and he seems upset. They slept together every night.

Oh lovey I’m so very sorry for your loss! It’s always so much harder when it’s unexpected and abrupt. You did NOT cause it in the least by your tears. A GI blockage just works that way. All he felt was your love for him and sadness at being separated. Clearly he loves you very much and wanted to be by your side at the end, and you gave that to him. Hold on to the memory of being there for him as he passed and the comfort it must have given him. Now he is running joyously and free from pain, waiting for you so that you can cross the Rainbow Bridge together. ((Hugs))

Huge ((hugs)) to you. I am so very sorry, but Please know that you did not do anything to cause his passing, it was just his time sadly. Now he is in a better place, happy and healthy, and smiling on you his awesome mom. (((((hugs)))))

I cant imagine your pain right now. I am so sorry for your loss but he is not in pain and he is your little guardian puppy. Im sure he was very happy to see you before he went. My dogs are like my kids, I dread when the day comes.

I’m so, so, so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy. My rabbit, who was my best friend in the entire world, passed away from an intestinal blockage. It was very quick – I woke up and saw he was distressed, rushed him to the vet and 2 minutes after we arrived he had a seizure and passed away in my arms. It was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced yet it was also beautiful because I actually felt his soul leave his body. Hopefully my little guy is hanging out with your guy at the Rainbow Bridge, where their bodies are healthy and young again and they can roam free. Hugs to you. It will get easier and in time your tears will eventually turn into happy memories of the time you shared with him.

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss 🙁 And I agree with you that losing a pet is just like losing a person because they’re members of the family. Dealing with the loss of a pet is so hard, because I think some people who aren’t fond of animals or haven’t had pets don’t understand the special bond we build with them. When my cat Leo passed away in September I found it hard to deal with, and had a few friends who didn’t offer condolences and weren’t understanding, and didn’t know why I was down. Just make sure you grieve properly, cry as much as you need to, and spend time with family and and your other pet. And don’t feel guilty, you gave him love, happiness and a good life, and he is thankful of that and loves you dearly 🙂 I can tell that by your post. And think of the happy memories you and him shared 🙂 I think animals go to heaven, as a Christian I think God put them on this planet as companions for us, and that we will see them again 🙂
Have a read of this poem, its called Rainbow Bridge. It helped me alot when my cat Leo died.
Hope you are okay, remember that you were his world 🙂
