We got engaged in August and our wedding isn’t until October of 2015. We had over two years 🙂  A long engagement isn’t unheard of, people just usually expect it to be sooner. DOn’t worry about other people.

Congrats! Beautiful ring!

@amanda2574:  Beautiful ring! And about the engagement length: I went through the same thing! We got engaged in November of 2011 and we’ll get married in March, so almost a two and a half year engagment. When people would first ask me about when the wedding would be and we said a couple years people really didn’t seem to understand, but what I’ve found is that people usually don’t think a wedding is “close” until it’s in like a month. In May of this year I told someone my wedding was in March and they were like “Wow that’s so far away!”

Wow, that was ramble-y. My point is, don’t let people’s reactions to your chosen length of engagment bother you! You have your whole life to be married, but you only get to be engaged for this short (in the grand scheme of things) time!

@amanda2574:  Congratulations!!! Your ring is AMAZING!!!! You are like my twin haha I have almost the exact same ring, I also had a gorgeous intimate at-home proposal and we’ll have a 20 month engagement by the time we’re married!

Don’t worry about a slightly longer engagement, do it at whatever pace makes you comfortable! There’s no right or wrong, just whatever works for you! Sometimes I get impatient waiting for our wedding day but really, you have your whole life to be married.. Being engaged is also a very special and often undervalued time in your life! Enjoy it!
