Pinch me bees. I feel like I’m living a dream. My amazing FIANCE (ahh it’s so great to call him that) asked me to spend the rest of my life with him on our anniversary. If I could choose how, where and when it happened, I don’t think I could’ve imagined anything as perfect as his proposal was.
Our day started early when we boarded the Camira sailing yacht for our full day Whitsunday Islands cruise. My Fiance and I were sharing a backpack and I’d put my bikini and towel in there, but didn’t see a box so thought it wasn’t gonna happen.
For the first few hours we were sailing, eating, drinking and just enjoying the fresh ocean air. He was acting completely normal and I didn’t suspect a thing. The weather was beautiful – the sun was shining and a gentle breeze was blowing.
The highlight of the day cruise was stopping at Whitehaven Beach, named one of the world’s top 10 beaches because of it’s pure white silica sand and turquoise water. We were given an hour to explore the beach before lunch so while everyone else went swimming, James took me by the hand and said we should walk to the end where it was shaded and quiet. I couldn’t have dreamed up a more beautiful location for the most important and magical moment of my life to take place. This is me wading through the water as a waiting bee for the last time.
James spotted a shady area on the rocks and laid out our beach towels. We sat there for about 15 minutes watching the boats go by and taking in the unbelievably beautiful view. And then… before I could realise what was happening… he was on his knee. And then the waterworks started! I swear I was blubbering like a baby before the poor boy even opened his mouth. But I remember every word. He told me he loved me, that I meant everything to him and that he couldn’t imagine one minute of one day without me in his life. And then, those 4 wonderful words. I didn’t just say it, I screamed it… YES!!!
And when I thought it couldn’t get any better, he slipped the most exquisite ring I’ve ever seen on my finger. (And yes bees, in that moment I was sooo happy I resisted the urge to open the jewellery box when I came across it a few days earlier). Despite having had a hand in designing the ring, nothing compared to seeing it on my finger in all it’s glittering goodness. So for the specs… 1ct cushion cut centre stone (E, VVS2) surrounded by micropave diamonds in the halo and around the band. It’s blindingly beautiful (and BIG on my size 4 finger) and I absolutely love it!
I’m the happiest girl alive and couldn’t be more in love with my FI! For my beautiful waiting bees, believe me when I tell you the wait is worth it. The sleepless nights, frustration, tears and times when you think it’ll never happen to you… well it will. And it will be wonderful!
