- Wedding: May 2012
I am an engaged women! My boyfriend of 4 yrs proposed last Thursday, May 19, exactly one year before our wedding date.
For a little back story… In January we decided we would like to get married May 2012, we decided a date, colors a venue, almost everything. Since then I have tried one wedding dresses, picked the color palette and paid deposits but I still wasn’t “officially engaged”.
This last Thursday was Closing Ceremony of the student organization where we met 5 years ago and of which we have been active members. So during the PP presentation at the beginning of the ceremony, he is invited to the front by the MC and proceeds to tell everyone he is going to propose! He explained the reasons why he chose that particular date (Pre- Wedding Anniversary), Place (Surrounded by all our friends and the organization that watched our relationship grow) and that he was complying with the things I really wanted in a proposal ( Lots of People and Lots of Pictures, If there aren’t any witnesses or photographic proof it didn’t happen or at least I can’t prove that it happened).
He then asked me to join him up in front and proceeded to explain the most important thing I wanted in a proposal. I want to pick out my own ring, so he proposed with his Mom’s ring so that I can choose my own later. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in the most adorable way ever (Ketchup of my fries, salt to my pepper, will you marry me). I answered by saying “You finally asked! But of course I’ll marry you!”.
We knew everyone at the ceremony so afterwards they all came over to congratulate us and hug and kiss. The rest of the night followed as if this closing ceremony were our personal engagement party because we were the stars for the rest of the night and there was loads of food, alcohol and even a band.
It was exactly what I wanted in a proposal and it ended up being even better than I imagined! I am so grateful for the effort he put in coordinating it with the organization’s president and members.
It was a night I’ll never ever forget and a wonderful story to tell our children
Now on to Pictures!
