Wow wow WOW!
My boyfriend of 3.5 years proposed. No longer a waiting bee!… Although, he threw me off big time by telling me to expect a proposal sometime between January and May of next year. So I felt like I was waiting but didn’t have ANY IDEA.
He was planning on proposing last weekend when we went to our favorite hiking spot, which was also our first date spot. But I later learned, the ring didn’t arrive in time.
ANYWAYS we signed up for a charity race on Saturday night for a local school. It was halloween themed and started at midnight (so technically Sunday!). He had researched the route and thought it ended at a riverfront park in our neighborhood, where we always take evening walks. Perfect, right? But the route got changed and the park ended up being the turnaround point instead of the finish.
We were running together and a good distance from people in front or behind us, so we had privacy. A few hundred yards after the halfway point, after we had turned around, he was running behind me and started talking. He joked because I had told him earlier I would carry him if he was tired, and I laughed and said that it was too late. He said something about us being in it for the long haul, and as I turned to tell him that we only had another mile of the race, he pulled the ring out of his vest pocket and said “So, will you marry me?”.
I was so surprised all I could say was WHAT a dozen times before finally saying yes. He put the ring on my finger and it fit perfectly. We were both ecstatic, laughing and crying, the rest of the race. I asked him a billion questions about how long he had this planned, who knew, etc. and learned about so many things I should have caught that I can’t believe how oblivious I was!
So! This post got pretty long. Here’s a pic of us right after the proposal and a couple ring shots. He had the ring custom made by a family friend. The center stone is a 1.05 ct. VS1 clarity F color round cut diamond, and there are .33 ct tapered baguettes on either side. The band and setting is platinum. It’s perfect in every way and better than I could imagine, and most importantly we are so happy to finally be engaged!
