rachelrebecca :  My FH and I have been dating for 6 years and are 24 as well. We just got engaged 2 months ago and are planning on having a 3 year engagement. Both of us see a future with each other, and have since we first started dating, but 24 is really really young. We both are just now starting to feel like “real” adults. We’ve really grown up a lot since graduating college 2 years ago, and we’re both pretty mature for our age.

I know it’s frustrating to want to start your lives together sooo bad, but he’s probably freaked out by all the pressure to start RIGHT NOW coming from so many people. I think you need to have a convo with his family about not being so invasive about it. You need to set boundaries and it should come from him so it’ll be taken seriously.

Also, are any of your mutual friends getting engaged yet? I’ve found that if a guy’s friends are all coupled up and getting engaged, they tend to start thinking seriously about settling down as well. Maybe it’s because they can actually envision it, rather than it seeming like this big scary decision.

Good luck, I’m sure he’ll come around. Try as best you can to be patient 🙂
