Fiance always says he is “falling apart.” I’m like stop saying that, you are 23. Jeez.

no, I always tell him that he better not die before me because I couldn’t handle it. I always told us that I would want us to die at the same time so one doesn’t have to be without the other. I think I would die of heartbreak.

My Fiance is totally convinced that since his family isn’t exactly known for longevity that he’s going to die before he’s 50 and it really upsets me.

I’m the one who jokes around all the time saying that since I’m way older (35, he’s 32) and so sickly (not really) that I’m gonna die first, but he always gives me the evil eye when I talk like this, lol.

Not to be a downer here, ladies, but statistically speaking, the life expectancy at birth for women (in the US) is longer than for men. So it is probable that you will outlive him.

That doesn’t make that kind of “joke” OK, though. My dad died when I was 6, so my Fiance knows better.

@Amaryllis: True, but aren’t men generally (just, on average) the older spouse? I know Fiance is 2 years older than I am, which isn’t a huge gap but my parents are 8 years apart.

Fiance is always saying that he’s planning on living until he’s 150 so I better make it to 147 because he can’t live without me.  haha

That’s not even funny! I would tell him to shut the f*ck up!! Fiance has made one joke (he’s a firefighter/tow truck driver so his occupations are EXREMEMLY dangerous) and I absolutly lost it at him, to the point where I threw my magazine (closest object) at him and started to uncontrolably bawl. He hasn’t since.

It isn’t a laughing matter, and even though it’s healthy to talk seriously about that, it is not something to joke about nor talk about often. It’s VERY insensitive and selfish to both of you for him saying that!

Yeah if my husband said that I would freak out on him.  He knows not to joke about dying with me.

@MsBrooklynA: DH is 11 years older than me and I always tell him he needs to be married to me for at least 40 years, but I prefer 50.  He’d be in his 90s!
