I love all those ideas you pictured, it totally got me jonesin’ for some Halloween! I also don’t think a Halloween wedding = not taking the marriage seriously, that’s just silly.  You could have a circus clown wedding and I may think some things about the wedding itself (like being freaking TERRIFIED), but I wouldn’t think twice about the marriage.  It’s a party.  How you celebrate your marriage has no bearing on how seriously you’re taking your vows.

@sweetdee522:  OMGosh I’m loving those pics!!! Now I want a Halloween wedding lol. I def think it’s going to be one of those weddings that your guests will never forget and probably the most talked about! I love the “chic” idea, you’re wedding is gonna be sooo awesome! I’d also like to add setting up a Candy Bar as well. Happy planning ๐Ÿ™‚

We are having our wedding this October 27th (the weekend before Halloween). We are mostly doing a fall theme with a masquerade twist. We didn’t want to require or even encourage people to wear costumes because I was afraid they would come dressed as sexy red riding hood and such and that wouldn’t really be what I wanted to have for our wedding. Instead we opted to have masquerade masks as favors and encourage people to wear them during the party. Also, we will be having a candy buffet to bring in trick or treating.

Honestly, I never thought about people not coming to my wedding so they could trick or treat with their kids. But most of the people who are coming don’t have kids young enough to go trick or treating.

My Fiancé’ and I are going to break our some costume flair of our own at the reception where I will be wearing fairy wings and elaborate masks. PM me if you want to spitball ideas! I probably would have done more of an actual Halloween wedding if my parents were more open to it. I have lots of research.

Halloween would not be my ideal theme, but SO & I are slightly nerdy, and if it made him jump up and down for planning a wedding, I would do it. It would reflect us as a couple, that we are care free, fun, and love a good time.

I would give out cards that say costume required, but saying costumes are welcome and encouraged, kinda deal.

I think it could be alot of fun.

I’m in Ohio and trick or treating is usually done during the week. However when I lived in eastern PA there were usually parades on the weekemds around halloweem which involved most school kids and were wildly popular.

I think you could say ” costumes rewarded” which means they aren’t mandatory (think grandma doesn’t want to dress up) but highly encouraged. then have extra door prizes for people in costume. it would bother me if it says they are required, even if i would have worn one anyway. but i do think you need to mention it if you want people to show up in costume at all.

I think everyone should attend a halloween themed wedding once in their lifetime.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

But in all honestly, I’m not sure how it would go with the older generation.  They tend to be traditional and probably wouldn’t want to participate.

It’s not something I would want for my own wedding, but I would love to go to one as a guest!

Even if it was on Halloween, I think most people with kids would let them go trick or treating with friends unless they were really little.

Likely the only wedding I would go to where I’d be upset if there was no candy bar! It sounds like a lot of fun. I can also say that in ontario, we trick or treat on the 31st. I might be worried about costumes required, only because I’d not be sure what to dress as…. Princess? Funny? Scary?

I think there is a fun yet classy and elegant way to approach a Halloween wedding versus something that’ll end up looking like a child’s party.

I personally would not attend a halloween wedding where costumes were required or even encouraged.  I wouldn’t want to wear a costume to a wedding and even if it weren’t required, I’d hate to feel like the only person not wearing a costume if most people did dress up.

Our date is Oct 27 this year… just days before Halloween.  Guess what my brother suggested? HALLOWEEN.  I’m glad my groom was not excited because it’s not what I’ve had in mind for the past year of planning.

On that note, being a guest to a Halloween wedding would be AWESOME!  I would embraze and show up in my big costume.  I love it.

No, kid’s don’t go trick or treating until the 31st.  It’s traditionally not done on the weekends unless the 31st falls on the weekend.

Oooh!  Oooh! Yes! I’ve been toying with the idea of a Halloween wedding ๐Ÿ™‚ Fiance and I were butting heads because I wanted an early September wedding with warmer weather and he wanted an October wedding with colder weather.  ๐Ÿ˜› We’ve since comprimised on early October.  I’m hoping to have that crisp autumn chill going on! If we go with the Halloween theme, I’m thinking eggplant/orange/green for colors.  Love the inspiration posted :))
