Im looking for ideas now for the backdrop or such for our head table. I decided not to hire a decorato for our winter wedding ( next month Dec 28, 2012) because my Aunt said she had everything we needed to complete it… she recently remarried a few years ago and did all of the decor herself with tulle, lights, backdrops, etc etc. The only difference is that she held her event at a local community centre, while we are having our entire event at a small hotel. The venue holds 140 guests, and is rather antique looking… carpet, ivory walls, etc. I chose this venue for our ” Winter Glam wedding” because it is intimate and romantic. Fiance and I have a 3.5 yr old son adn a 2 yr old daughter, and the hotel allows us to hold everything in one place.
*sorry for long post*
MY problem now is that my Aunt was able to place holes in teh walls and ceiling of the centre, and we arent obviously at the hotel. Any suggestions on how to emphasize the head table (we have 3 Attendants on each side) for the venue. Or should we do round tables???
For centerpieces I am doing DIY birch branches (snow and glitter) hung with clear acrylic garland.
Any suggestions at this point would be greatly welcomed!
ps. my Fiance works away and will be home for ONE week until Dec 16th!!! 🙁
This is my first bridal mini meltdown! Im afraid my venue is gonna be bare!

Do you have a pic of your venue? Or, can you give us a link to the hotel’s website?
Does the hotel provide risers so you can elevate the head table?
You can do your own freestanding pipe and drape to place either on the floor behind the riser or on top of the riser directly behnind the head table chairs.
There are many tutorials online.
This is a simple setup wjhere you can have the vertical posts secured in buckets of concrete. You simply attach the horizontal pipe at the venue. You can make several of these to cover the length of your head table.
If yoou have enough fullness in curtains you use, you don’t need to place the tube of fabric over the pipes as she describes. Or, you could simply wrap the pipes with extra sheer fabric.
This one is a simple frame – you can drape sheer fabric over or buy rod pocket curtains, thread a metal rod through the pocket and lay the rod over the top pipe and secure it at the back.Spread the fullness of the curtains and then add a swag at the top.
If the rod pocket in the curtain panels is wide enough, you can thread the horizontal rod of the frame right through it. Most aren’t.

- Wedding: August 2013 - The Liberty House
You can usually pin things to the tablecloth. Also, if you want to hang things, maybe you can use those tiny command hooks that don’t leave holes or marks?
