This topic NEVER crossed my mind until I read some random blog post where the writer was lamenting all the “tacky” things she had at her wedding before she knew better. One of them was a skirted head table.
What?! It never crossed my mind that a skirted table was seen as tacky or cheap. I can see how if the linen isn’t in good shape, it could be, but I just don’t know that there’s enough of a difference for it to be noticeable.
We ARE splurging on nice linens for our guest table and I’m happy to pay for them on the head table instead of venue-provided skirting too. I’m picky on decor and the cost is minimal if I decide I prefer the look of cloths. BUT – then don’t you have the big line down the ends where one table cloth ends and the next begins?
Convince me. What’s your take – skirting or table cloths for a head table?
(If we did skirting, we’d probably do it in white unless they have a light gray. If we do table cloths, we’ll probably do a nice silver. Our guest tables will be plum, and behind our head table will be a white pipe & drape backdrop.)
