Sounds like you’re getting caffeine headaches. When I cut out sugar on a diet (well, soda and iced tea) I had a small cup of black coffee  to curb the caffeine headache. Every day I gradually had less and less. Eventually I was caffeine free. I went back to coffees after I had the kiddo though lol

Have you tried eating something like cheese and seeing if that helps?

2nd the slowly cutting back thing… I’m trying to do it and get headaches sometimes, too.  Don’t go cold turkey.  It’s too much of a shock.

i remember the headaches when i did southbeach.  the headaches are a symptom of your body going through sugar withdrawal.  if i remember correctly, the diet said plain fat free yogurt/or and beans helped.

Are you cutting back on caffeine too?  If not, green tea and iced tea without added sugar always makes my headaches feel much better.

Asprin or gatorade is fabulous but I guess that is sugar lol

Honestly, I would be vary cautious when playing with sugars. Its good to cut out junk, but if you eliminate it all, you will take your body chemistry for a ride .

My brother nearly lost his life and his eye sight due to trying to be “healthy” cutting out sugar, and over drinking water. You need to know in advance if you have hypoglycemic tendencies.

I cut out all sugars, natural and artificial for a month (as per a nutritionist’s advice) and I felt like SH*T!  It gave me headaches and major depressive moments as well!  Definitely do it slowly, and if you feel bad, eat some natural sugar like a banana or dried fruits or something to perk yourself up.  Or even yoghurt with honey, anything really, otherwise it gets awful and you won’t be motivated to stick with it!!

Fruit, natural sugar.  Also, 100% Pure Maple Syrup/Sugar is a great thing if you have the craving for sugar because it doesn’t have the same “sugar high/low” as cane sugar because it’s more natural – straight from the tree!  I try to cook with it although it’s expensive, because it doesn’t give me sugar crashes/headaches.

@Mrs.Firefly1:  Is this available at a regular grocery store or only specialty/ health food stores?  Also, I’ve heard some suggestions for Agave Syrups/ nectar… any one tried it?
