Hello gorgeous bees!!
I am going to try and start a new post weekly for any bees who have/are trying to have/are interested in having a healthy lifestyle.
We can use this to post anything we are trying, anything we have found difficult…and just overall support for each other. It could be about food – to share any great recipes we have tried recently…or exercise, sleep….whatever you feel like.

I will start…
In April I decided I wasn’t too happy with my weight and overall fitness. I decided to try and lose some weight. I have been eating mindfully and have now lost 22kg meaning I am now at a healthy weight. However, I feel like I am still probably carrying more fat and less muscle. I am not really a fan of weight training and wondered if anyone has any tips for me to gain muscle without lifting?
I have also started C25K…went on my first run today. Anyone used this programme before? Does it work?
An ongoing target for me is to drink plenty of water…I don’t drink anywhere near enough fluids.
What about all of you?

Wow go you bee. That’s incredible! Over the last 10 days I’ve started an exercise programme. Downloaded the Kayla Itsines Sweat app and I’ve been working out six days a week. I get to the gym at 6.30 am and do an hour workout and then I walk for 40 mins every lunch time. I’ve been walking every day for about 6 weeks now and have a walking buddy in the office.
However in the last 10 days of weight training and high intensity training I’ve noticed my muscles coming back. 4 years ago I had a personal trainer and went down 2 dress sizes in 6 months. So I have that muscle memory.
Just need to improve my diet a bit more. I’m pretty excited.
I have the c25k app on my phone. I don’t really run any longer. I used to run 10 km a day but so bad on my knees

I’m starting C25K tomorrow! what a coincidence!
I’ve been incredibly active all my life until 2 years ago and I’ve packed on 15kg. I started an elimination diet last Week (eczema health issue) and I’ve stuck to it 100% and signed back up at gym. So I’m totally on board!
Fiance has been super darling. He hasn’t seen the fit version of me and he’s been super supportive and finds me attractive now. But I’m feeling so sluggish and dying to get back in shape and feel myself again,
if you don’t want to weight lift but hope to recomp and gain some muscle/lose fat go for some hiit workouts and bodyweight exercises 🙂

My weight has always been the same, minus a pound or two here and there but recently my metabolism seems to have came to complete halt and within a month I’d gained 15lbs! I decided last week to cut out coffee, caramel hot cocoa, sodas and pretty much any drink apart from green tea or water. I haven’t weighed myself yet but I can see a visable change and I think if I keep it up I’ll probably be having 1000 less calories a day atleast! Sucks because in fall weather I always want to indulge with drinks more so hoping I keep it up!
Although, past week I have had a couple of coffee’s and a PSL, it’s nowhere near my 7+ sugary coffee’s a day just to get me through the work day!

So glad this was started, I decided today I am going to once-and-for-all get back to a healthier lifestyle and need all the support I can get!
I have gained about 15 pounds since becoming a stay at home mom. I used to do really well, I would get up early before work and work out at home and ate well (mostly) and then I just lost all motivation! This was a mutual decision by me and my husband for me to stay home for a few years because it seemed to be the best solution for all the problems we were encountering. But to be honest staying home really isn’t for me and I became rather depressed and lazy and no longer cared about what I ate, and would eat all day because I access to food and snacks all day long. Things have slowly gotten better though since I have decided to go back to school and I am taking classes in the evenings and gives me something to focus on besides Nick jr.
I developed some really poor eating habits that are soo hard to break! I am going to start very slow, making small changes so that I can maintain this long term. No specific diets for me! I’m going to start today just trying to make healthier choices and not snacking unless I am truly hungry, especially after the kids go to bed! My husband and I both treat bedtime like our adult snack time and it’s really gotten out of hand. And my number 1 thing to cut back on is going to be beer…. my husband and I love beer and it’s football season… soo all those extra beers just because the game is on certainly aren’t helping lol.

Wow, you sound very motivated!! I take my hat off to people who go to the gym at 6:30am. I have never heard of that app before, sounds like it’s working for you. I might have a look into it.
Yay, I have a buddy I can share my c25k progress with!! Let me know how it goes tomorrow! i am going for my second run on Friday.
That’s amazing you have managed to cut down on so many sugary coffees. I read someone that sugar can be an addiction which is worse than cocaine. I have been trying to cut down and have noticed that since cutting down I don’t crave it as much anymore.
Sounds like I chose to start this thread on a good day for you 🙂 Let me know how your first day goes! Well done for taking the first step to be healthier. It’s great to hear you now have something to focus on in the evenings. Maybe you can use the mornings by planning and cooking some healthy lunches (between being a mum of course).

At the start of this month I got serious about losing weight. I’ve been kind of working at it on and off for about a 1.5 years but now I just really want to buckle down and get it done.
I’ve lost 20 lbs, have 55 more to go to reach my goal weight. Well, only 42 to reach a healthy weight the rest is just vanity.
At the start of September I started tracking all my calories and running 3x a week. This week I’ve added in 2 days of strength training because it’s really important to me to tone and build muscle and I lose weight. I’ve also completely stopped eating out as I used to eat out 3-4 times a week.
There are a lot of body weight exercises you can do to build muscle. You can look for YouTube videos (I like Popsugar Fitness) or use the Ace exercise library to build your own workout routine, it will let you search based on the body part you want to work and the equipment (or lack thereof) you want to use. Cardio is great but it isn’t going to help you build muscle.

I’ll join!! Approximately 5 years ago I remember standing in my closet and not being able to button my pants. I was prediabetic and very unhealthy. I recall very vividly telling myself that I need to make a change. The next week I decided to try to start insanity. It was way too difficult for me so I started out with p90x. I completed the program and later moved on to insanity. I did end up losing 50 pounds of fat that first year I started eating healthy and working out.
It has has been a challenge to keep the healthy eating and exercise going. I’m now focusing on lifting and getting stronger and adding in cardio. I try to follow the paleo/primal diet and it has worked wonders for me! I see this as a lifetime goal, not a short term goal. That way I always have something to work towards. I want to be healthy for my partner and family. I want to be able to go to the park or walk down the block without feeling like I am going to hyperventilate. I also never want to go back to being on the verge of getting diabetes.
Even though I’ve been working out and eating healthy for awhile, it hasn’t been easy. I still have my struggles and have to remember why I started.

NASM trainer here. I am about 20% BF probably a little higher and fluctuate between 130-135#’s at 5′ 6.5″ 32 YO.
Definitely trying to get back to my slimmer self especially in the tummy dept.
I tried the apple cider vinegar diet. My stomach definietly looked flatter after a week but my back started really hurting and I was concerned it was my kidneys so I stopped.
Granted I only took 1 TBSP of apple cider vinegar w/teh mother, 1 tbsp lemon juice and 8 oz water. But the back pain has stopped sooo who knows.
I ride my bike 2-5 times a week to work @ 12 miles round trip (dependent on weather) and started lifting again seriously about a week ago. So I’m pretty excited to get ripped again.
I also ordered some natural weight loss pills to help me they are callled Nature Wise 95% CLA 1300mg it is essentially omegas from safflower oil. It’s supposed to help you if you’re active and just trying to shed a couple extra pounds so praying to Jesus!

I started up again at the end of August after recovering from some injuries from a nasty fall a year ago! I cracked my clavicle and damaged by rotator cuff and bicep tendon. I’m so ready to get rid of my “pouch” and that armpit/boob type fat stuff. My personal trainer talked me into a spin class and omg it was SO fun and totally kicked my butt. I also have an old quad injury so it’s important I maintain muscle and activity in my legs or I pay for it during ski season. I highly recommend it!!!
I tend to stick with HIIT and body weight stuff but when I get back home in a month and workout with FH I will go back to weights and more cardio.
I take a probiotic, a fiber supplement, wheat germ oil, and sometimes I remember to take fish oil.
edit: I’d like to lose about 10 lbs and build more muscle so it may take a while. I was there two years ago so I know I can get there again!

Thanks so much. I started doing some research about ‘intuitive eating’ and have given it a try. I eat when I’m hungry and stop when I am full 🙂
Well done you!! Can I ask how you got into running? Are you using anything like C25K?
You should be so proud of yourself! You sound like you have come a long way! What is insanity? Never heard of it! I agree that this should be a lifestyle change and not a ‘diet’ as such. I made the mistake a few years ago of reaching my goal weight by being on an unrealistic diet…which I couldn’t stick to and then put it all back on again. Boo!! Not doing again! Lesson learnt.
Well done for wanting to make a change!! I know how you feel about the tummy department. Even though I am at a goal weight I by no means have a flat stomach. Need to work on that a bit! hehe. Let us know how you get on!!
I love spinning too!! You feel amazing afterwards! Good to hear you are now recovered and can exercise again…after a year!! That’s insane. Must have been a nasty fall! I have heard a lot about HIIT so I think I will look into it and try it out 🙂 Keep us informed about your progress

I technically started my diet 11 Sept and I’m down 3kg (6.6lbs)
W1D1 of C25K complete and Legs at gym today woot!
My sister gave me a bunch of secondhand clothes (some still tagged) and they all in my pre weight gain size 8/10Au. I’ve taken a few bits – extra motivation.
Nearly caved on a tiramisu last night and then dug my heels in. It if it was just diet I might have decided a small dessert was ok but I still have 11 days at least left sugar dairy free for my eczema which hasn’t totally cleared yet. That was the huge motivation. Want my skin fixed so badly!!
