Hello Baby Bees!
I’m a plus sized woman looking to begin losing weight prior to my husband and I TTC this fall 2011ish/Early 2012. Any suggestions on goal weights before getting pregnant?
Any tips for any expecting Moms? Any plus sized women right now pregnant?

A weight that would be in the healthy BMI range could be a goal. But to be safe, I would probably see my doctor first, he/she could help set a goal and ways to meet it.

talk to your doctor, but a good goal is most likely the “healthy” range of the BMI chart.

I agree with the others, it would be nice to have a healthy BMI. I used to be in that range but gained after getting pregnant and miscarrying, and then I got pregnant again right away. My lower back is killing me, I feel like it wouldn’t be this bad if I didn’t have that extra weight on me.

I think a doctor’s opinion would probably be best, because one person’s “healthy” weight is often very different from another person’s healthy weight. You need to find out what’s healthy for you.
And good luck on TTC!

What I’ve read suggests the normal BMI range is a good goal, but sticking to the mid- to high end of it can be beneficial. I’d also suggest trying to lose weight gradually, as fast, dramatic weight loss can sometimes wreak havoc with your cycles. Good luck on all fronts!

You should talk to your doctor because it also depends on your body frame type. When I asked my doctor about my ideal weight he sugested a number that was on the higher end of the “normal” BMI range scale.

Good for you for taking this step now and trying to start your pregnancy off on the right foot by being as healthy as possible ahead of time! 🙂

We’re thinking of TTC late this year. I’ve been on prenatals for awhile now, but now I’m going to work on getting my body back in shape so I’m at a healthy weight for the pregnancy. I also scheduled a dentist apt. to include X-Rays so I don’t have to worry about that once I am pregnant.
