It was true for me, her heart rate was always higher and the lowest it’s been was 146.  My Brother-In-Law said his son’s heart rate followed a pretty similar pattern as hers though.

Nope! My baby always had a high heartbeat (160-170) and I’m having a boy. I was researching this question like crazy before we found out the gender, but there’s really no way of knowing for sure until the u/s.

It’s 140 and up for a girl, I believe. Mine was true. Her heart rate was always in the high 140s-low 150s.

@JewishBride:  I agree that there’s really no way to know.  I was researching all of the old wives’ tales and all of them but heart rate said boy for me.  But she’s definitely a girl.

DD was always lower than 140… unless she was moving and then it might jump to 145 but then back down to 135-140

DS always had a faster hb.

From the way it was explained to me, babies are just like us. If we’re resting it’s lower and active it’s higher so it just depends on what baby is doing at the time it’s checked.

False for me! Our little guy’s heart rate has been consistently in the 150s, and my OB said there’s no mistaking that he’s a boy!

my baby boy has varied alot. he was in the higher numbers when he was smaller, started around 165 and then was 155 for a long time. these days he is usually 120-150 range. I think this is a HUGE myth. i have seen it debunked to many times not to. the only thing i put any smidge of credence in is a good nub shot from a 12 week NT scan.

Wrong for us too! Our little guy has always had a heartbeat of over 150 and he is most definitely a boy!

It was true for me! At all our appts the heartbeat was in the 140s and my little BOY will be joining us in Aug! I have a best friend who is 2 weeks earlier than me and her LO’s heartbeat has been in the 160s consistently…and they are having a girl! I don’t buy into old wives tales but in our cases it seems to be true.

They’ve proved this theory is a myth in multiple studies. Hasn’t been used to predict gender since the 80’s.  My boy runs around 160.

Not true this time, though it was last time. My DD was always in the high 150’s to low 160’s. DD #2 has been clocking in right around 124 consistently this entire pregnancy!
