Old wives tales say that a heart rate of 140 or above means your having a girl, and anything lower is a boy. Now, I’m curious as to what your baby’s heart rate was vs what your actually having. I know 2 people who have high heart rate, and having a boy… And the one with a low heart rate is having a girl.. So totally opposite of the wives tale.
I had my first appointment today and babya heart was 173… So I’m totally curious!!!
so ladies, what was your babies heart rate vs what your actually having??

Hmm, mine are both at 140 and I’m having boys. I guess mine doesn’t really support the old wives tale either lol.

I’m having a boy and his heart rate has always been in the 140’s. The first time I heard it was at 12 weeks and it was 146. So the old wives tale isn’t supported here either.

My daughter’s heart rate was in the 160’s in the beginning and at the end anywhere between 120-140.

I am having a boy and his heart rate was 179 at my dating ultrasound (9 weeks). By 13 weeks his heart rate was down to 155 but still well above 140.

graygodess20: my daughter was pretty much always in the 160s. But, so was my sister with both her boys. It’s actually most accurate when you’re in labor. Up until then it’s just for fun!

I don’t think that wives tale works until later in pregnancy because smaller = faster heart rate. I am having a boy and his heartrate was way over 140 until the 3rd trimester and that was when the doctors started saying “it’s a boy right?” no one was asking if it was a girl back in the first and second tris.

My daughter was generally in the 140s throughout most of my pregnancy. I’m guessing it was higher towards the beginning and came down some (13 weeks was our first heartbeat) but I can’t remember. Around 130 during labor.

In both of my pregnancies, the HRs have varied anywhere from the 130s to the 150s… and the first was a girl, this one’s a boy.
