My vet recommend switching our dog to Interceptor from Heartgard since everyday after receiving her heartworm medicine our dog would vomit and just not be herself. Anybody use this for their dogs? Reviews would be helpful 🙂
Also, what does everyone use for flea and tick prevention? We’ve been using frontline but I wasn’t sure if there’s any other brands people have used that they prefer?
Thanks in advance 🙂
And just because she is so cute here is a pick of our Pupper

prinzesschen : haven’t used or heard of inceptor! But for fleas and ticks, we use nexgard! It works really well for our two dogs.

prinzesschen : I have a Border Collie and he can’t use Heartguard, so Interceptor is the one that we use. Highly recommend. For fleas and ticks, we use Simparica; it really works.

Our dog is really sensitive to flea medicine so we use Richards Organics Flea & Tick shampoo. We was him every 1-2 weeks and use the same branded dog bug spray for walks in the woods. It works amazing and we live in Florida. Once we noticed the fleas were really bad in our area so we used the oral Nexgaurd for a month and was ok, but in general he doesn’t tolerate the medicine or the topical stuff well.
We give him Heartgaurd so I can’t help you there.

Our dogs use interceptor for Heartworm prevention, have never had issues. They gobble it right up and have never had side effects.
we had been using K9 advantix but are switching to the seresto collar for flea/tick.

Our boy gets the once yearly jab for heart worm protection – I’m not totally sure what it is in terms of brand name though. He’s on a quarterly tablet for worm and tick prevention and we use frontline for flea protection.

Aww, your dog looks like such an angel!
We have been giving our dog Panoramis. It’s supposed to cover fleas and worms but we haven’t seen any ticks ever since we have started giving our dog that! 😀

Our pup has used both unter rotor and heart guard without issues. For fleas and ticks, we we have used frontline, but have woods in our backyard and our dog was still picking up ticks. Our vet recommended simparica instead, and said it’s much more effective than topical.

Frontline/Advantix/Revolution for fleas and ticks, heartworm yearly injection.

prinzesschen : we use advantix for flea and tick and it’s worked perfectly for 2 years of regular hiking in the woods. We use heartguard though so I’m no help there.

We use Sentinel tablets and it’s supposed to prevent heartworms, fleas, and a bunch of other worms. We also use K9 Advantix II for fleas and ticks.

Thank you all 🙂 I guess since some of the bees have use Interceptor I will try it out for a little while and see how she does on it. As for fleas & ticks I’ll do some more research about K9 Advantix and Seresto although I do prefer the topical/oral treatments as opposed to an additional collar for her to wear.

We use Revolution. It’s a topical monthly application that prevents fleas, heartworms, ear mites, scabies and ticks. My dogs also got the Lyme vaccine because we live in the woods; however, what they don’t tell you is that the Lyme vaccine only prevents against a few species of tick – and Revolution only prevents one or two species of tick – and both of my boys now have Lyme disease 🙁 No heartworm or fleas, though.
