That’s so pretty!  I don’t have one to share, as, happily, my 80 year old Mom is alive and kickin’ still and taking no prisoners as they say!  I will inherit a lot of lovely pieces from her what that time comes.

Yours is quite unique and must sparkle like mad!

This is my great grandmothers engagement ring. I absolutely love it! I sometimes wear it as a rhr.

My fiance’s grandmother’s engagement ring from 1949. Old European cut .98ct center diamond VS-2 Color J. 6 bezel set round brilliant cut side diamonds. 1.19 tcw. Platininum. Original setting and design. I had no idea what it looked like until he proposed. I love how beautiful and special it is to have something previously worn by a family member with love.

Here is mine — received it from my grandfather (he said it was his mothers)

hssweethearts2013 :  Thank you. I love it! It tends to be a conversation piece — I love the history, love behind it and uniqueness (no one else has it)

Do brides make it their own as in making changes or leave them as is?

These are all so beautiful! I love all things vintage and pieces that have family significance. I don’t have an heirloom engagement ring, but I’m contemplating wearing an heirloom necklace that was my grandmother’s wedding necklace. I’m just hesitant because it’s quite large and my dress is also on the verge of being too much so I don’t know. I might ask everyone when my dress is finished.
