My fiance proposed to me with his grandmother’s ring, it’s a 19c european ring with marquise cut rubies and triffle sparkling diamonds. I love watching how it reflects a light… I feel so honored to wear on a finger his family’s heirloom! Are there any other bees with me?

Oh your ring is so pretty! How amazing to get to wear that ring with all the sentiments behind it.
I’m wearing the diamond from my grandmothers pre-war engagement ring, it was in a pretty horrible setting so we changed that, but i like wearing something my gramps, a man that passed away well before I was born, bought for my nanny.

Your ring is so gorgeous!

We will be once I give him the ring. My belonged to my grandmother versus his, but I’m the only girl so the ring would eventually be mine anyway . I love it and can’t wait to wear it. 🙂

My engagement ring is from the 1920’s and I will be wearing my grandmothers 18ct 1930’s wedding band when we get married. I love antiques. Your ring is beautiful and one of a kind for sure!

I love heirloom ring! It is from the 1910’s 😀 I love it so much. It has been passed down mother to daughter for EVER! lol. I love the flowers on it, and the diamond is an unusual cut!

@fvsoccer: from mother to daughter since forever, yes! I am not sure even to whom my ring belonged at the beginning, so I used to think as to his grandmother. It’s a big luck to marry someone who was born as the first boy in the family for many generations!

I don’t know if mine’s considered an heirloom yet. It was my Mom’s and she gave it to him to give to me. 🙂
Sorry for the blurry cell phone pic…

@aprose: That is just beautiful, I love it! Everything about it really, gorgeous.
@fvsoccer: That diamond is incredibly unique, do you mind me asking if you’ve ever got it appraised? It has to be valuable!
@Pouponette: Your rubies are an amazing color, do they look that way in person? Love your ring as well!
I would have loved to have my mothers ring, or his mother’s ring even. They are both currently in use though My grandmothers both just had a plain wedding band, no engagement ring.

Ladies all your heirloom rings are stunning!

@SouthernCJ: Ummmm I think my mom did for insurance purposes, but I don’t know if age adds anything to diamond worth because the cut doesn’t reflect as much light as modern cuts, except for buyers in the antique diamond market. Which I’m not sure is very large? I have no idea! I think it might be old European cut….diamond experts?
