my great grandmother passed just a little while ago and she had this ring in a box for me, If i remember this ring correctly this was her mothers anny ring. Of course I have not seen her since iwas 20 (i am 28) and she showed me her rings when i was a very little girl like 10 or under so remembering is very had for me.
I asked a little about the ring and found out that it may be her or her mothers anny ring my aunt and dad didn’t know whos anny ring it was (and is likely white saphier or possibly white topaz)
my friend mom knows alot about gems stones and she looked at the ring … it stamped with 7 and a heart or a 0 with an arrow thru it. no numbers to say what metal it is… however she says its white gold she says its too light to be silver or platium and anything other then gold would not be in such good shape. She also said the prongs were to good to be anything but gold, she thinks its whtie saphier bc white topaz has a yellow tinit and spahier can have a blue or pink tint even if its white witch this does seem to have (notice the slight blueness)
i don’t want to ask my grandfather i don’t want to be rude I don’t really care i could be nothing for all i care it was my great grandmothers maybe even my great great grandmothers and that makes it pricless to me, I just find my self curious as to what it is for care reasons like if its something that might get hurt should i be wearing it all the time i wore it every day since i found it in teh box she left me.
does anyone where own a white saphire who might be able to tell me how you care for them also ways to sorta know it is one … I read that they glow more then sparkle and this does really glow even in low light its really beautiful also if anyone knows anything about white topaz that might be helpful too.
I did pop into 2 stores one was rude and tested it to be a diamond i said i was pretty sure it was not one and he used one fo those little tester things that make a sound if its a diamond said it was not and tapped on the case went its likely glass
the other store it was a very nice girl who looked at it with a loop said it was a not a daimond and then looked at the markings she said like my moms friend said it was to light to not be gold. She said the markings were the makers marking and that bc of the age of the ring it didnt have a metal stamp b.c. the makers were prob well known and it was not law to stamp it then so it was prob enough to have had their making marks on it. She also was not sure of the stone she suggest going down town (bigger store of theirs with the proper stuff to test for what it was) she said they would be able to tell me she said it was likely like my friend mom said a white saphire or white topaz
i just thought alot of you ladies are very in the know on their stones and maybe i don’t need to make an hour drive lol maybe i dont even need to know for sure i just want to make sure i do what it needs to stay well kept and lovely
