It’s beautiful!!! I’d love if mine had a story attached to it like that, you are really lucky to be able to reflect on your ring like that!!

Mine was an estate ring that Fiance paid about $300 or 400 for (it was $900 and he traded in his exes engagement ring that she had given back to him). I could care less about the price, I love my little ring and even though the lady at the store kept telling him over and over that it wasn’t an engagement ring I’m so glad he bought it anyway!! Although trying now to find a matching band is proving impossible because it was meant to be worn alone. Oh well.

Mine even has someone elses name engraved inside lol – I’d love to know its history, so I’m jealous that you have that connection with your ring!

@alishaloo:  So I just looked at it again because I forgot the name in there, and it says

Ang 00205 – I always figured it was an Angela and some important number.

I figured I’d google it now while thinking about it and actually found the original listing for the ring – and it says that reference is the SKU number for the ring. It’s done in a pretty fancy font for a SKU number so now I’m all confused. I liked it better as a name than a SKU lol!!

Here was the listing – I’m glad I found it because I never had a clue about type of ring or stones or anything Embarassed and had to actually ask The Bee for help with the description! Must save this page now. Thanks for starting this thread!

@alishaloo:  LMAO!!! you totally will get to be that girl!! It’ll start tomorrow when I tell my friend!! I still think it is another girl, maybe they just used the engraving for the SKU 😉 It was so much funnier to think my engagement ring had some other girl’s name in there!

We tried there first for a band but they were too expensive – the only thing they had that would work was a band that was $600 and I would have needed two of them. Too much for us!! I got a JVL band or $25 with the code for now 🙂

I think both those rings are awesome.

@alishaloo:  What time period is it from?  Its that an illusion head diamond/setting?  I saw alot of those when I was trying to find out more about my grandma’s ring that I ended up getting.  Does the 300 include the sizing and the prong repair?

I have my grandma’s set and three of the prongs had to be repaired plus both rings had to be sized down.  The sizing cost 180 and I’m not sure what the prong repair was because he took care of that.

My grandmother had Alzheimer’s disease too.  The diamond fell out of her setting when she was at the nursing home but she still wore it.  I’m pretty sure that it couldn’t be taken off her finger anyway, but she didn’t seem to notice the stone was missing.

She and another grandparent passed away unexpectedly about two years ago now, after that my guy and I decided to move.  Before our big move we were talking about marriage and he asked me about rings.  So I looked and didn’t find anything I liked.  Then I remembered grandma’s setting and contacted a family member to see if they had it.  It turned out they did!  So after asking nicely they gave me the setting and I gave it to him.

We drove across the country with it on our move.  When we got here he told me he was going to take special care of it and the next time I saw it it would have a diamond again.  And here we are a year later.

The setting was purchased in the 1950’s from a PX in Japan and I believe it originally held a 1 carat old Mine Cut or something of the like.  It now holds a 1.25 carat RBC.

@alishaloo:  Thanks 🙂

Wow they had to cut it off!

This is a link to an illusion head setting, it reminds me of yours.  I get the impression it was designed so that from a far it looks more like a carat than whatever size it actually is.  I thought that was really cool and clever.  They have modern versions of this now too but they don’t make them like this anymore as far as I know which is too bad. :/
