We are also on a really tight budget (roughly $8k) and live in the Bay Area. As you know, we are in one of the most expensive areas for pretty much everything! We searched around for months until I finally had a dream, YES A DREAM about a place I had seen on pinterest. I went to my board and found out that this place was in the Bay Area!! It was a sign of all signs now to find out how much? Well we narrowed our guest list to 20 people all family because we wanted something very intimate and so we could spend our little budget on the people that really matter. Fast forward to now-2 months before our wedding date half of the deposit has been paid($1300 meaning $2600). This includes a coordinator for the whole event, our ceremony, and reception sites plus catering and our cake! They require that they cater but I have read such great reviews on their food so I am so excited. The place is called the Nimitz Mansion on Yerba Buena.

This is the image I dreamt about. Definitely look them up!

I’m so excited to have found this thread!  I’m having a similar budget concern (okay, it’s approaching freak out even with 18 months to go).  I’m also working with a 10k budget.  I can’t wait to take a closer look at these places and any more that anyone can come up with!

Oh, and I’m looking for outdoor ceremony, indoor (hopefull air conditioned) reception.

@MissP_Bee:  Thanks for posting your price – I’d been searching their website for pricing and couldn’t find it!  Do you have any more details you could share? Looking at your post it must be near your day!  Congrats!

Parks are your friend!! Do you have a car? There are some gorgeous parks in the East Bay for super cheap (under $200 for a full day in the summer on a weekend), that you can have both wedding and reception at if you’re open to that. The good part about the East Bay is that the weather is more reliably warm, esp. in the summer. The great thing about parks is that (cheesy as it sounds), you have nature as your backdrop, so you can spend less on decorations. The bad thing is that power sources are limited (daytime weddings FTW). I got married in Briones Park, at this gorgeous picnic area & it basically felt like we had the whole park area to ourselves because it was so remote. I had a 100+ person wedding for under $5000 in the Bay Area, so I feel ya on the whole “oh crap I live in one of the most expensive cities in the US, how the hell are we gonna pull this off?” But it CAN be done!

@DaniLyn:  The grounds are beautiful, there is an outdoor area for dancing, a beautiful grassy knoll, and a tree perfect for pictures! We held the ceremony inside (yes our day has passed, it was perfect thanks to Monica and Kathy at Nimitz) because its January but it was beautiful. The house where we held the reception is big enough to fit many more than our party although I can’t remember the number she told us. There is a birdes room and a grooms chambers for everyone to get ready and the to are blocked off from eachother so no peaking 😉 And the food…. TO DIE FOR. DH and I were both so overwhelmed by the excitement that we barely touched our food but it was amazing. All the guests raved about it which was a hard task because of all the different palates between our families. Cake was made on spot and it was also delicious. I do not have one complaint about them. I have their pricing sheet and seasonal menus in a pdf and would be happy to send them to you if that would help? Feel free to message me! Good luck on your hunt, the Bay Area has so many beautiful venues I know you will find the one of your dreams!!

@PacificMrs: The only venue my SO has gotten really and truly excited about when I showed him pictures was the Pulgas Water Temple, but I’m having trouble thinking of a good reception venue nearby. Do you mind me asking where your friend held her reception?

@MadameX:  They had the reception at the Bay Cafe restaurant. 🙂
