I need some help choosing a setting. This ring is a gift for my mom. After a bitter divorce she refuses to wear her old engagement ring, which was an emerald solitaire.
I got my hands on a beautiful 1 ct deep green emerald (rectangular) (her old one is round). I need help choosing a setting. The pictures below show the rings in platinum…but I will order it in 18 K yellow gold. fyi: the last choice, even though it has the most bling, is the least expensive, because i am buying it from my jeweler and the others are a name brand bought through a retail store.

I voted #1. #2 looks a lot like an e-ring with a wedding band, and if she just got divorced I’m not sure that would be a favorite. I love the third one, but again it looks very much like an engagement ring to me.

I love engagement rings with round diamonds~~

@almostmrst: I voted for #3 because while I am not normally “blingy,” I find that an emerald cut sometimes needs a little help to bring out its beauty!

East west setting is my fave….
You would have a really hard time finding anyone else that has one like that! Love the uniqueness!

I think number three is beautiful

Love #2. Very cool and unique, but still sleek and classy!

@almostmrst: since it’s for your mom, I really like option 2! It’s beautiful but doesn’t look like an engagement ring, which I think is more appropriate.

I vote either the 3rd option (my first choice) or the 1st one!!

Just in case I didn’t explain it clearly above, the stone I am using in this ring is an emerald cut Emerald, not an emerald cut diamond. With the colored stone in yellow gold setting, I am not too worried about people mistaking it for an e-ring. Thanks for all the input! It’s very helpful! 🙂
