- Wedding: March 2011
I’ve been a Weddingbee fanatic ever since a good friend of mine was planning her wedding back in 2008. We would pore over blog posts for inspiration and I would long for the days when I could plan my own wedding…AND IT’S FINALLY HEEERE :)!!! Unfortunately, NONE of my close friends are very interested in the wedding planning sitch. I’m fairly young and all my gals are living it up in the single life, which often translates into endless “Listen to me rant about this new guy who I’ll be over in a week” conversations. So I’m finally turning to all of you ladies for inspiration, advice, and moral support in all things wedding-related! (Thank you x a billion in advance!)
So the Barney wedding is approaching rapidly. Mr. Barney proposed in front of my sister and close friends at Trocadero on Sunset Blvd., the restaurant/bar that we had our first date at two years earlier. Since March, I’ve done all the wedding planning I possibly could while student teaching in the day time, working on getting my Masters in Education through evening classes, and waitressing at night. This is by far the most hectic year of my life.
This is what I have done so far: wedding dress, save the dates, engagement photos, ceremony and reception venues. So. Much. Left. To. Do.
Finally rounding up the crazy bridesmaids to get their bm dresses. It has taken me seven months to finally decide on my wedding colors and I did not put my foot down until YESTERDAY. Up until that point, I was letting my bridesmaids have a big say in the colors because I (stupidly) figured that their dresses would determine the palette. My initial desire was to have various shades of purple. Bridesmaid or Best Man #!: “You want me to look like a GRAPE when I’m walking down the aisle?!”; Bridesmaid or Best Man #2: “OMG you want me to look like freaking Barney stomping around your wedding!!!” You get the idea. I finally told them that they could choose the colors. For months, I heard various colors suggested then changed over and over and over until they tentatively decided on the bm dresses being champagne-colored. And as soon as I would contact the florist to let her know about the new color palette, I would face more hesitation. I cannot tell you how absolute FRUSTRATED I was! After crying to Mr. Barney, I finally put my foot down, acknowledging the fact that this is MY wedding!! So yes, my bridesmaids might not be ecstatic with my decision, but when the day comes, there’ll be nothing but love. Hopefully :).
So I’ve decided on this color palette for the wedding: bluish-lavendar, ivory, dove gray, with accents of lime green!!! SO excited. Here are the bridesmaid dresses we’re going to look at on Monday. Can’t decide between “lavendar”, “victorian lilac”, “charcoal”, and “riviera sky”. I’m also debating whether or not it would look strange if my bridesmaid wore different color dresses… Suggestions??
