Hiya bees! Not sure if you remember me, but I was pretty active on the boards a few years ago. I’m sure if I was still on the official waiting list, I would be well near the top by now. Well, I am back to say that I am officially engaged!
A little over a week ago, my boyfriend told me he was going to play hockey with his friend, which he does about three times a week. A half hour later, he called me saying he forgot his glove and asked if I could please bring it to him. I had a long day, and at this point, it was around 10:30 pm, but I peeled myself off the couch and grumpily drove to the rink to bring him his glove. I arrived, pulled my car over, put my flashers on, and ran up to the doors, expecting to quickly toss him his glove and get back home to my Law and Order. But instead, I opened the doors to this:
And suddenly I was all smiles! We had our first date at an ice rink in 2008! Unfortunately, the ice skates were too small, but I didn’t want to ruin the big plan! I tried hard to put them on anyway but it just wasn’t going to work. So I proceded to the ice in my boots where someone was waiting for me.
He helped me shuffle across the ice where he got down on one knee and gave me a beautiful ring. Even though I had been expecting an engagement sometime soon, I was in complete shock (hence the crazy hair and less-than-flattering outfit), haha!
Then I hear people cheering, and I look over to the bench to see about fifteen of our closest friends! Suddenly all of the crafty decorations make so much more sense, as he basically had an army of women helping him. Then we all enjoyed some ice skating fun and a celebration with cake and champagne. I was so overwhelmed with all of the attention and love! I’m not sure this is the proposal I would have imagined for myself, but as usual, my guy knows me better than I know myself. It was such a great start to this whole wedding planning adventure and exactly what I hope our wedding will be – a big fun party with everyone we love.
If you’re wondering about the ring, well, it may look familiar because I posted about it here two years ago. He remembered that ring, even after going shopping and looking at many other options, and he thought it was perfect for me. And he was so right!
