Hi, everyone! I just became a member of Weddingbee, so I figured I’d introduce myself to my fellow August 2012 brides!
My name is Laura, and I am 26. My Fiance and I got engaged right before Christmas of last year. Many people think we are crazy to plan a wedding so soon (it’s not THAT soon….right?) BUT we decided to do so because it works best with my schedule for school, my daughter’s schedule with school, and his schedule with work (he’s in the Army). I also really wanted to make sure we have an outdoor ceremony, and I REALLY didn’t want to wait for next summer.
So far, we have the venue (which included chairs for the ceremony, food, bar, and service), rings, photographer, and the videographer. Talks with DJ’s are in the works, and I am picking out my dress this Saturday, when my Mom and sisters come in from out of town. I have narrowed it down to 4 dresses so I hope it won’t be too difficult.
I feel like we have SO much to do, but a lot of it I feel I can do closer to the wedding (flowers, decorations, and favors).
How is everyone else doing?

@LovelyLaura: I will be getting married in August also. You seem like you have gotten lots of things organized for your wedding. I’ve set a date with my church, setting up appointments with venues and thats about it:)

@gypsylu21: I was very casual about the planning until I went to a bridal show and all the vendors were telling me about how little time I had. I started freaking out and sending e-mail like wildfire to the vendors I liked. Thinking about it now, it was probably all a ploy to get business but the funny thing is, I didn’t choose one vendor that was at the bridal show!

I am also getting married in August and we too also just got engaged in November of last year. We choose a venue that is pretty much all inclusive. Florist on site, cake decorator on site, caterer on site, they even have a DJ pretty much exclusive to the venue. Really the only vendor I need to find is a photographer. It’s a fun time and I don’t think six month is a short time frame.

We’ve been engaged since December of 2009, so I’ve got a LOT of things out of the way. So far we have:
-Venue booked for ceremony & reception
-Catering included with venue (going to menu tasting next month)
-Dress & veil ordered and already in, just have to get alterations
-Wedding shoes purchased
-Bridesmaid dresses purchased
-Save the dates sent out a few months ago
-Honeymoon & travel arrangements booked
-Paid deposit to baker and cake picked out
I still need to: Have Fiance & his groomsmen get fitted for their tuxes, purchase flower girl dress, order wedding bands, figure out centerpieces, meet with florist and put deposit down, and make donation to American Cancer Society (in lieu of favors).
I’m probably forgetting more, but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head!

We’ve been engaged since December 17, 2010, so we’ve also had a while but I didn’t really get cracking until a few weeks ago to be honest.
Right away we had:
– our ceremony venue
– My Bridesmaids
– Officiant booked (BM’s hubby)
More recently we booked:
– Reception venue
– Linen Rentals
– Dress purchased and eagerly anticipated
– On-site hairstylist
– Caterer, sort of through the reception venue
– Chair (ceremony) and PA rentals (Reception)
– booked Fiance tux and picked style for him and groomsmen, Fiance is measured
– Centrepieces and favors are decided and mostly sorted, still need to engrave favors
– Honeymoon arrangements booked
– Registry complete
– Invitations chosen
– Wedding party confirmed
Still to do:
– Take Future Mother-In-Law dress shopping, Bridesmaid dress shopping, flower girl dress, all the little pieces like flower girl basket, guest book, and ring bearer pillow (I intend to make these one of my DIY projects), choose hair accessory(ies)?, find red slipper-esque shoes, confirming DJ and MC… I’m sure there is much much more but that’s a big list and makes me breathe a small sigh of relief (the completed list not this incomplete list )
