Hi fellow Chicago bees! I was born and raised around the great city of Chicago and like in Lakeview! I love it here and hope to stay here as long as possible (until my soon-to-be-hubby’s job takes us away).
As much as we enjoy the city, we are having a destination wedding in North Carolina on the beach in June 2009.
I love hearing from Chicago brides so keep it coming girls!

Thought i would ressurect this thread rather than start a new one….So holler all of you Chicago newbees!
I live in the southwest burbs (Orland Park and now Palos Heights), and while my dream has always been to move downtown after college), my FH is taking me back to his hometown of San Diego after we married! I’m excited for the big life changes, but a little sad to leave my city!
Where are you getting married and when?
I’m getting married in Orland Park/Homer Glen on June 19th! (I think I picked the busiest weekend of the year…after getting engaged in October 2008, I could hardly find a venue available!)

E. and I met the first day of college, at the Univ of Michigan, and both moved to Chicago after graduation. So, we’ve been together for a long time, for over 6 years. We were engaged this past fall in Ann Arbor, at one of the football games that we actually won this year. We’re getting married 12/12/09 at the Newberry Library. We’re thinking of a Costa Rica honeymoon. I just found weddingbee a few weeks ago and am excited to transcend from the Newbee status.

Hello! I moved to Chicago a year ago to finally be in the same city as my fiance. We were engaged in October at the Palmer House Hilton. He lives in the West Loop and I love on the northside. We are moving in together in May and I am excited to start looking for apartments! We’re getting married in Las Vegas in November.

Hi All! I am brand new to the board. I’ve been engaged since 4/4/09 and have started the planning process. We are going for a downtown chicago wedding and right now we have the church for 6/5/2010 and are still searching out hotels in the downtown area for the reception. Looking forward to getting great ideas and happy I just fell across Wedding Bee tonight!

Hi! FH and I have been together for about 6 years, and got engaged on March 13, 2009. Our date is set for Sept 25, 2010 because FH wanted a fall wedding and 25 is our lucky number (and the next time 25 falls on a Sat in the fall is next Sept). We have our church and are having the reception at the Hickory Hills Country Club. The church is on the north side of the city and the reception is in the south suburbs, so we placate boths sides of the family. I have some big ideas (cupcakes, chocolate fountain, photobooths) so we will see how this goes.

i am new to this board and site and figured this would be a great place to start.
my fella and i got engaged on may 25 and i’m already scrambling to plan plan plan. we’ll be getting married may 23, 2010 but everyhting else is up in the air. i’m not a very girly lady, but this wedding stuff has me totally hypnotized. it’s exciting and stressful and stressful.
right now i’m pushing to pick a venue asap but none of them seem right. we’ll be doing lots of diy stuff, and i want it to be outdoors but without a lot of restrictions. apparently this cant happen. but i will make it happen. we live in lincoln square – the best darn neighbourhood in chicago!

Hi – while I’ve been secretly trolling this board for awhile now, I was kidding myself that I didn’t have time to dig in and really find answers from all the Chicago brides. Well, with 2 months to go and a LOT left to do, I don’t think I have time NOT to get connected!
I feel like I’ve planned 3 weddings, yet somehow, don’t have the actual wedding nailed down yet. We were originally going to do a destination, but with the economy tumbling were worried that too many of our must have guests wouldn’t make it, so we switched to Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro in North Center. Well, wouldn’t you know it, then TOO MANY of our guests were going to be able to make it and we outgrew the spot. So, we switched again to the Roof at The Wit Hotel (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE). Luckily, I’d procrastinated about any other details other than the venue and the 1st had a very generous refund policy and the 2nd never asked for a deposit!
Anyhow, I’m sure I’ll post in more appropriate spots, but if anyone is out there that can recommend some of the items/vendors below, I would really appreciate it!
- A great rehearsal spot (especially something a little unique because most of our friends are coming from out of town and we are hoping to plan something that will really help them see why we love Chicago so much)
- On location Hair/Makeup (same person or 1 person for each) – I just had a trial and ended up with racoon eyes within an hour, horrible (and at my shower no less!)
- Extra special bridesmaids gifts
- A GREAT, but affordable seamstress to alter my dress
- A videographer that won’t cost me more than our food and provides raw footage

Hi everyone – I’m new to the Chicago boards and thought this would be a good place to start! We live in Geneva, got engaged April 9, and are planning an August 14, 2010 wedding in Geneva/St. Charles. The best part… he is planning the honeymoon so I have no idea what’s in store for after the wedding!
