I’d love to share my proposal story with all of you. I’m a long-time lurker, but could never bring myself to join for fear of “jinxing” myself. So, here’s our story!
The plan for Friday, April 16th had been simple: he would pick me up from my apartment, and we’d head south to the movies and dinner — no chance of doing fun things outside, as the weather was miserbale. So I get into the car, and everything is normal… until we start heading north. By the time I realize what’s happening, he tells me, “well, change of plans, we’re heading to Nubble Light instead. I thought the cool clouds would make a nice picture background, and it’s probably the last chance we’ll have to go there any time soon.”
This lighthouse is a favorite spot of ours, but it never occurred to me that he’d propose on THAT day…
We sat in the car for a few minutes watching the clouds and seagulls. Eventually I put on my gloves(!!) and jacket and got out to stand by the rocks. He came out, no coat on, and took a few pictures. Then he put his arm around me as we’re gazing at the ocean, and says some sweet, wonderful things… and gets down on one knee with the ring box open! The gloves come off, the ring goes on, and we’re transported to that euphoric engagement heaven. Let the phone calls begin!
We drove home to celebrate with both of our families, and he reveled in the fact that he managed to surprise me in such a meaningful way.
The rest, as they say, is history.
(And we never did get to that “dinner and movie”!)

Thanks so much! We are in an LDR, so sometimes it still feels like a dream — almost unreal. Maybe the shock just hasn’t worn off yet! I’m very much looking forward to all the planning, especially with some timely input from the Hive!

I’m working on getting a few decent pics of the ring — a few family members took some, and I’m asking for e-mailed copies.
My avatar is the lighthouse, though the pic is from a much sunnier day!

Finally, pictures! No glamour shots yet, but these were taken when we got to my parents’ house. The ring is a three-stone “Boston” setting (of course!) with round brilliant diamonds.
