- Wedding: May 2012
Good afternoon to all of my fellow WeddingBee bloggers. I have been obsessed with this site for months and now that I am finally Engaged, I am thrilled to be able to take part.
For my first post, I just want to let you know a little bit about who I am (Ms. Shrimp), who my FH is, (Mr. Shrimp), and our visions for our big day. I have plenty of detailed posts for later. 🙂
I am 26 years old and in the process of becoming a restaurant manager. It’s a very long and stressful process (but what job doesn’t have those moments?), so through all of this, I am thrilled to have something as exciting as MY WEDDING- those words still make SO SO happy- to plan. Mr. Shrimp and I met over 2 and a half years ago through Match.com. Say what you will blogging world, but a friend signed me up, and I can not repay her enough. My whole life has changed because of something I thought was silly and pointless. Mr. Shrimp and I started talking and over the course of 2 months, struck up some really great conversations online and on the phone. He was interesting and funny so I finally gave in to desire (and allowed my heart to block out my mind telling me I was NUTS to meet some stranger online- after all, he might be a weirdo- or worse a criminal).
Our first date ended up being cancelled due to me being seriously injured in a work accident. I was completing my internship at a facility that uses horses to provide therapy for children with disabilities (called Hippotherapy- look it up!) and was exercising a horse when the horse flipped over on me. Besides my injuries, my cell phone was crushed and it was several weeks before I was able to contact Mr. Shrimp.
Luckily for me, he was very excited to still get together and forgave me for “standing him up”- of course the bruises and broken ribs were enough to help me plead my case. Finally, on July 4th, 2008, we had our first date. We met at Uno’s in Lionville, PA and had an amazing dinner. The conversation just flowed and I was instantly attracted to him. We followed our dinner with the movie “Wanted” because the fireworks got rained out (boo!). We had so much fun that night, it was so hard to say goodbye. It took us over an hour of standing in the parking lot making pointless conversation before we realized someone had to say goodbye. The goodbye kiss did it for me, I knew right then, he was something special.
The rest is, as cliché as it sounds, history. He proposed December 19th, 2010 at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA in front of the beautiful Christmas display in the Topiary Garden. I was shocked and above all thrilled (although my first response to him asking was “Are you kidding me?!” <– obviously I eventually got around to saying “yes” as I have a very beautiful ring on my left ring finger! ).
Mr. Shrimp and I currently reside in West Chester, PA and are working very hard to plan a beautiful wedding. I am incredibly, super-duper, fantastically, beyond-insanely, ecstatic <– are you getting the picture? THRILLED to announce our wedding will be at The Cathedral Basilica of S.S. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, PA and our reception (are you ready for this?!) will be at Citizens Bank Park!!!!!!!! <– home of our beloved Philadelphia Phillies. Now that I have made myself SO excited I’m once again jumping up and down… allow me to take a moment to calm myself…..
*sigh* Okay, I’m good.
Mr. Shrimp and I, as well as Mr. Shrimp’s entire family, are INSANE Phillies fans. We go to more games than we should for financial reasons and we watch EVERY game when it is on TV. We have cheered through the best of moments and cried through the worst and it is a DREAM come true to have our reception at CBP. (Don’t think Mr. Shrimp and I have this blissful sports-relationship though. Don’t ask about football! I bleed black and gold.. lets say he just bleeds… <– he’s an Eagles fan… poor Mr. Shrimp! haha). So our common ground is baseball and we are so excited to share this with our friends and family on our big day!
I will go into more detail in future posts about our specific plans, but let me give you a run down for our vision-
Ceremony- formal, elegant, traditional, classic
Reception- Come on now, it’s a Ballpark- it’s going to be party central with touches of class *hopefully!*.
Thank God for Pappa Shrimp- he is willing to pay for the venue and the food, so to try to save money and not spend every last penny he and Mamma Shrimp and Mr. Shrimp and I have.. I am going to be doing a TON of DIY projects. 🙂 I will update on those soon.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to sharing and learning with all of you!
