Good afternoon bees! I hope everyones day is going well! Well i am currently at work suppose to be doing something else but have been driving myself wondering what i can name my guest tables at the reception. Our theme is classic/romantic/vintage. Our reception is in a place built in 1926 close to the river, my hubby will be wearing a pin strip suit, i have damask table cloths, 3 glass vases with lilys on my tables and lots of candles. My colors are white black and green. Just trying to paint a picture… i will be having a vintage candy buffet with all the classic candies… i just really cant figure out what to call my tables!! Help!

I know this may seem silly to suggest – but why not just number them?

I was looking to go a little more creative than just a number. Every wedding i have been to was numbered.. i would like something to go with my vintage/classic theme 🙂

Could you maybe do old movies? Or Mrs. Flamingo chose one vintage movie poster, then just added a table number to each one.
And here’s where she found vintage movie posters.
Or you could take pictures in vintage clothes and use the pictures to make table numbers.

Maybe classic jazz singers?
- Frank Sinatra
- Etta James
- Bing Crosby
- Ella Fitzgerald
- Cole Porter

Hehehehe, you could name them with sweet 20’s lingo. Like “bees’ knees” or “cat’s meow.” You could name them… maybe classic romantic movies (e.g. “Casablanca” and “Gone with the Wind”)? I guess those are more like 40’s…

How about the names of the candies you’ll be having in your candy buffet?

I like the movie poster idea. Since it is along the river you might use River names like the Hudson, Thame etc.

Love the candy name idea! Or 1920s books/movies/songs.
Does the venue offer any other inspiration?

I like the vintage catch phrases idea! Or quotes from 1920’s books, like The Great Gatsby or any Fitzgerald novel. Or get the names of riverboats that frequented your river at the time…your venue probably has a historical archive of this kind of thing.

I had the same idea but Mrs. Spring beat me to it.
The cat’s meow

In addition to themes that go with your decor, another option is to choose a category that reflects a hobby, an experience, anything important that you and you Fiance (family & friends) share.

for my tables what i am doing is places that my Fiance and I went on our first date. We took a kind of crazy first date and long but it works. Not sure if will def go with ur theme but you could always do places and/or things thet the two of you enjoy also…..just and idea.

What about finding some black and white photos on the web of places that are important to you and your FI? (eg, if you’re a world traveller – Paris, Rome, Toyko, London). The black and white could be classy and very elegant.

Thanks so much! I thought about our favorite places we have traveled etc but thought i should go more vintage to add that special touch to what i am trying to create with the place. I love LOVE the ideas of old phrases or movie posters etc… i am currently going to the vintage movie poster link Lillindy provided but the novel idea is also brilliant!
