As some of you probably know, I had a somewhat disastrous phone call with a potential florist on Friday. After that, I put my big girl panties on and decided I would DIY my flowers. So, with the newfound determination in hand, I got up early with the wife and went to the wholesaler in my area.
First, let me say that place is DAUNTING! There are so many flowers. And it’s so cold. And there are no prices listed. So, we gathered up a bunch of things and went home to arrange them. That’s where things began to go wrong. I don’t know if I chose colors poorly, or the types of flowers I bought don’t mix, but I couldn’t make anything nice.
If anyone has any suggestions, please give them to me. Here’s a pic of what we bought:
We got big, fluffy white hydrangea, ivory roses, pink carnations, some kind of pink filler (can’t remember the name), a white cymbidium orchid and a dendrobium (sp?) orchid.
At this point, I’m pretty much ready to say screw it and just hire someone. So far, I’ve spent $250 buying flowers to play around with, and that money could have gone to someone who actually knows what they’re doing.
Thanks, bees!
