Ladies this is my first post (avid reader, but newbee to posting) but I really need some help. This is a little long so I apologize.
So I am one of those brides who thinks photography is one of the most important parts of a wedding. I am getting married in September of this year and have been looking for a photographer since last June 2007. We have a really small budget for the entire wedding so small that when we once told a photographer our total budget she laughed at us. Back in October we met with Perspecta Photography we liked them and within the week asked for references via e-mail after not hearing back from them I called and they told me they had booked our wedding date. OK not going to get angry start my search over again. In October 2007 I contacted Erica Berger for about 4 months I tried to set up a time to meet with her. We met with her mid January and told her that we wanted to book her for our wedding. The next day I requested a contract via e-mail, after a phone call I received one then I requested a few changes and received the corrected version via e-mail. We signed our contract and sent off our deposit check. After a week or so I hadn’t heard anything and the check hadn’t cleared the account so I contacted her via e-mail to see if she got our contract, no response so I called her last Friday to check if she had gotten she said she hadn’t and I let her know that I would put a stop pay on the original and drop off another check and contract that day. I also let her know that I noticed on her new website that our date showed as unavailable and that I wanted to make sure that was for our wedding she assured me it was. Woo, that is good, I hang up the phone. 2 minutes later my cell rings and she says oh sorry I double booked that is for another wedding . Too Bad!
One I am trying really hard not to get frustrated. The kicker of this is that once I sent everything off I thought we were good to go and for what we were paying Erica Berger we could afford a DJ (instead of Laptop) so I went ahead and booked a DJ. So now that money is gone. Wedding planning is really difficult, you have to really trust that the people you are giving loads of money to are going to do right by you.
So I need a photographer. I am in San Francisco. I don’t need any albums or anything I just want a DVD of my photographs at the end. If I beg, steal and borrow I could maybe come up with$2500 for a photographer. Got any suggestions? I am willing to cover travel (at cost) for the right person from LA or Vegas or something.
Please help, this may cause me to have a nervous breakdown, because I thought I was done with looking for a photographer and now I am back at square one and this has happend twice UGH!
