Okay so I know alot of the bees do not care for my dress and that’s okay, I get that pick ups aren’t on the fave list but I happen to like the fullness of the skirt. I’ve become increasingly more self conscience of my arms and really want to cover them up.
I am not a huge fan of boleros (although they look AMAZING on those skinny minny brides). For me I feel like I’m wearing a jacket over my dress and I rather not go for that look. I also get that sleeves aren’t in either but I’ve really liked a couple pics I’ve seen on here of off the shoulder sleeves. Thank you to the bee (sorry don’t recall who it was) that recently posted a pic of her beautiful dress that came with these sleeves. Sorry I borrowed them via photoshop and put them on my dress to get an idea.
SOOOO…here is my dress without the sleeves (there WAS a one shoulder strap in the pic which I removed from the pic so it looks strange. and then the pic with the sleeves added (half ass in photoshop). Do you think something like this works with my dress or no?? I really don’t want to spend the day with my arms stuck to my side in fear of flapping in the wind. The sleeves are obviously not the right color..again just took them off someone else’s pics so it’s not a perfect match in anyway 🙂
P.S. Be gentle with me if any negative comments about the dress itself, I just got the call that it’s in and I’m going to try it on tomorrow,

I think those sleeves would look absolutely gorgeous with that dress!
You might also consider extending the sleeves a little farther down the arm though. I think it would balance it if it went past the elbows. But that’s just an idea.
btw, I LOVE your dress! It was one of my runner ups. 🙂

I think the combination looks great, so go for it!

I’m a fan of pickups (my dress has them)! 😉 I really like your dress, and I think it looks great with the addition of sleeves. I was actually considering this style of sleeves on my dress too (I also don’t like boleros much), but my mom nixed it. 😛

First of all, your dress is GORGEOUS!!!! I am in the same boat with my arms. I’m gonna leave mine exposed and not worry about it. (And do lots of toning exercise in the meantime.) The only thing I would be concerned about, with the sleeves, is range of motion. Will you be able to pick your arms up to hug people? Other than that, I think it would look really good with the sleeves.

Sleeves look great! A really nice option if you are against a bolero.

I love the added sleeves! You should definately discuss it with the alterations department when you go and see your dress!! Congrats and you’re going to look fantastic!!

I LOVE your dress……
I think that I like it without sleeves BUT I am adding sleeved to mine cause I get uncomfortable too so what do I know!
But I still think it is SUPER pretty with the sleeves and I am not the biggest fan of bolero’s either…..
Either way i think it will look gorgeous.

I like the dress without the sleeves because I always feel like sleeves actually big arms that are big look even bigger!! I don’t like my arms much either but when I tried on dresses with sleeve, I thought they looked bigger than without!
But if you do want to cover your arms, I actually thought those sleeves look pretty cute and romantic!

Why do you think sleeves aren’t in right now? You couldn’t be more incorrect! After Kate Middleton’s dress, sleeves have become all the rage! I think sleeves look beautiful with your dress. I am soooo sick and tired of strapless dreeses. They are so overdone. Go with the sleeves, girl! You’ll look stunning. My dress has sheer straps and I love them! Booooo strapless.

Thank you everyone you are all so kind! and I really appreciate everyone’s opinions.
@Thrakena: I too have thought about range of motion and it’s something I will have to inquire about. Basically it will either be that I CANT lift my arms because of the sleeves or that I wont WANT to lift my arms because of no sleeves 🙂
@CrispyRN I totally get what you’re saying about sleeves can make them look bigger. My personal issue is not with the actual size of my arms, I can live with that, it’s the underarms…near the pits and the saggy bat wings.
@amw511s: I know that sleeves are coming back since Kate but they certainly weren’t in when I purchased my dress! I almost wish I would have waited before buying mine but too late!
@flutterbi: It is a Mori Lee- this particular one is in her Julietta line which is for us fuller figured girls 🙂
