There will be no noticable difference between a .7 and .8 or a .8 and .9.

The most important quality is cut. If you have to pick between a few stones, go for the best cut and worry less about carat size. Any of those sizes will look great on a size 6 finger.

Go to diamdb.com–> you can put in shape, carat size and finger size if you really want a decent comparison.

sparklesauce, the difference in size will be pretty negligible between those sizes. However, there is no comparison for seeing the stone before you buy it. DH said that he looked at a bunch of stones that were the exact same cut, quality, etc etc, and they were still noticeably different. The stones have personality. If you have the time, I suggest going to see some stones in person.

Here is my 0.8 diamond in an antique setting.

adviceseeker :  My center stone is 0.6 carats, and my finger is a size 8, so larger than you asked for. Just to give you an idea. My Fiance opted for a smaller stone that had better cut, color and clarity.

You’ve narrowed it down to two very similar stones. It’s completely personal at this point. Does your partner have a preference on stone size vs sparkle? Even if you can’t ask them, there should be someone you can ask (best friend, sibling, parent, etc). You can’t really go wrong between those two so I wouldn’t worry about making the ‘right’ choice and just make the choice you/they like better.

I LOVE mine! I’m a size 5.25. but I sized up a quarter size, due to possible swelling. It’s a picture with my wedding band (enhancer/guard) on it. 🙂 It’s .75 and perfect.20161029_153920

Being that both have such excellent cuts, I’d say go for the .8. What are the other specs? Color and clarity? The clarity can influence a lot how a diamond performs, due to the inclusions and light return.

.7 and .8 are too close is size to tell the difference.  Do you have a pic or video of the diamonds?  Have you seen them in person?  You have to go with what you like at this point
