I am kind of confused by your question. The two weddings you went to were A cake reception and a meal reception? What does that mean?

Pretty much every wedding I have ever been to has had the DJ from cocktail hour to the end.

It’s really what you prefer. Our DJ is coming for the ceremony and staying until the end. Ive also been to weddings were the DJ starts when the dinner starts, and others where the DJ starts after the dinner.

@NewfieBullet: Oh okay! I understand now lol! I have never been to a Wedding that just had cake or just dinner. Every wedding I have ever been to had a cocktail hour of food, then dinner then dancing then dessert. In all of those Weddings they had a DJ who played music the whole night. Are you having dancing at your Wedding and stuff?

Check with your venue to see if they provide dinner music (ours did) and our coodinator would have announced the bridal party, cake cutting, etc. Perhaps yours provides a similar service.

Since we’re off-season, our DJ threw in 2 hours of dinner music for  free (and we’d like him there early to set up before guests come, so we took it), so he will be playing light music and doing the announcements.

@NewfieBullet: Have you talked to any DJ companies yet? I am sure if you talk to a few they will give you the logistics of what they usually do.
