Hi Ladies! My wedding is rapidly approaching (July 7) and I need your help putting together my final wedding day look! For context, the wedding is here in Hawai’i on the grass, and is going to be pretty nontraditional. This is my dress:
and this is a pic from my first fitting! It obviously hasn’t been altered yet, and i’ve dropped about 12 lbs since then:
Here is what I know for sure: I am removing the gawdy belt (sewed on), I am wearing my hair half up and curled , and I hate heels.
I still need to find a belt- I’ve considered maybe just a thin white satin ribbon?
I found some shoes that I’m so not in love with, but are fine (I’ll probably end up taking them off anyway), but if you have any other recommendations I’d love to hear them!:
but where I really need help with is hair accessories!! I really love veils, but I’m not sure a veil would go. What do you think? I imagined something like this, but with fresh flowers:
and finally, here is my bouquet!
As for jewelry, I am just doing simple drop diamond earrings and of course, my rings!
I’d love to hear what you think!

I LOVE that dress!!!!
I like the shoes-they look perfect for grass and easy to unzip if you’re going to get pictures on the beach (I mean you ARE in Hawaii)!!
As for a veil, that’s a personal decision, but I will say this will be the only time you’ll get to wear one, so decide if you’re ok skipping it with that in mind. I wouldn’t do flowers in the hair OR if you do, keep it very simple like one bud since your bouquet is bigger than life!!
Your jewelry sounds great, and you could also add a simple necklace if you wanted. But totally optional!

Rachel Jennie : Since your wedding is in Hawaii, why not have small, silk orchids on your hair? Veil: cathedral length! About a belt: your dress really doesn’t need one! Some ideas:

What a beautiful dress, perfect for a beach wedding. That bouquet!
I don’t think you need a belt because the dress has so much visual interest on it’s own.
How about a coloured veil? A light lavender might look really pretty.

Oh. My. Goodness. That is the prettiest dress ive ever seen!

I think I am going to do a veil, with a couple of small, fresh white. dendrobium orchids. I wouldn’t do a belt normally, but unfortunately since the dress came with that awful belt sewn in, I am going to need something to replace it and cover the mess from the stitching. Thank you all for the compliments on the dress =) And I will consider doing a lavender veil!
Btw, the wedding is not at the beach, but on the Great Lawn at an Inn on the mountainside overlooking the coastline =)

One more question that just arose: Does anyone have any idea what type of bustle I should get? Thanks!

Rachel Jennie : First of all, your dress is AMAZEBALLS! My jaw dropped. Thank you.
Next, I think you should wear a short (or short-ish) veil. Maybe something with a bit of volume to balance our the full skirt of your dress? Please don’t cover up teh back of that stunning dress with a long veil.
Maybe something like the one on the right? http://www.womantowomangyn.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/shoulder-length-veil-uk-veils-bridal-veils-from-birdcage-veils-to-cathedral-veils-wedding-ring-pink.jpg
Or this one? https://cdn3.volusion.com/hnzvm.gtepb/v/vspfiles/photos/VB-401-2.jpg?1522930938
Wear it for the ceremony and some photos then ditch it if you want.
I agree with PP who suggested a flower in your hair.
Please please please post a recap with photos!

Rachel Jennie : I reaaaaaally think you need to put purple flowers in your hair! It would tie the look together so beautifully. Maybe do a veil for your ceremony and flowers for the reception? Being in Hawaii and having a purple dress, you can’t pass up on flowers in your hair!
I do think a white satin ribbon would be perfect as a belt.

Miss-Mauverick : Thank you so much! I’m definitely definitely not doing a super long veil! I was thinking elbow length. I like the second one you sent, but maybe single layer and with some flowers at the base =)

lovelyruby : Those are stunning! Is it unheard of to do a clip/comb like this attached to a veil? Everyone seems to be suggesting one or the other, but I think with my hair half up and as long as it’s a thin veil and I go easy on the amount of flowers, I could see both. What do you think?

Rachel Jennie : Ithink you should do a lavender ribbon. You could dye it to match. Just buy a yard of satin fabric from the store and use it to test out colors until you get the right shade. Ithink a white belt would stand out a bittoo much

Can you use some of the fabric they cut from the hem
to make de “ribbon” to cover the belt stitches??

Okay, no suggestions at this point, but lavender is one of my colors and I LOVE that dress!!! I’m definitely more traditional (and already have a dress), but just curious, where did you get it (wonder if they make something with same fabric but as a cocktail dress?)

It’s a gorgeous dress!! I love the suggestion of flowers in your hair. I think that if you live veils, you should wear one!! When else are you going to get a chance to wear one?
