Do you have pictures?

Also, CAN it be fixed or is it a lost cause? I’d go look at DB asap if you think they may have something. Where did you originally purchase your dress?

Is the damage permanent?  If you can post pictures you may be able to get better advice.  If you can’t try to an off-the-rack store and buy something low cost that does not always look bad.

What on earth did you say to the seamstress? Can she fix it? Did you ask her already? Surely she can do SOMETHING! You poor thing 🙁

I’m really sorry you are going through this! I would definitely let her know you are super upset!

I would go shopping tomorrow morning. If you find something you like off the rack, get it. If you don’t, spend tomorrow afternoon with the seamstress (and managers) to figure out a resolution.

If it’s really that bad, they should offer a refund for at LEAST the alterations and help you figure this out. My first choice in that position would be to find a new one, though, rather than try to have it fixed.

Yes, that sounds logical. ALWAYS have a backup dress for important events. Not just for this scenario, but also in case somebody spills red wine on it and you have to change, or something…

In your case, it’s many times more important! Don’t worry about ending up with two dresses… better to have two than none!

I think at this point your idea to fix it and buy another one is a good idea, I don’t know how you feel about the one that is being fixed and if you will ever really have the love for it, if you know what I mean

@LateKate:  Sorry you are going thru this….the store should help you at least try to find a sample somewhere of your same dress. Could DB call all around different stores and see if there is a sample they can sell you(and overnight it if they find it in another store) Also if they do that they need to be pretty much giving it to you for free I would think since they messed yours up. I’m not sure I would personally allow the sam person who messsed it up to fix it thou. Could you talk to the manager of the alterations dept?
