Help and advice on dresses

To be honest, I’m confused by that dress. It looks like two dress concepts in one. The flowy part at the bottom seems off from the rest of the dress. It’s either not cut right or the sizing is way off, but it’s hitting you at the wrong angles. I just really come to back to the word “confusing” as far as everything going on with it. I’d keep looking, Bee.

Actually I think this is a pretty dress, BUT with alterations. It seems that it doesn’t sit right on your waist/hips. Do you plan to have alterations done?

Maybe it‘s just the angle, but as it shows in the picture yo posted I think you could find something more flattering. Or do you have another picture from the front?

Agreed with PPs, the dress doesn’t seem to be sitting right on you. I think the style fits what you are looking for, but I’m also not a massive fan of the colour of it with your skin tone, even if it was fitted to you correctly. I would also keep looking – maybe something similar in a softer shade? It certainly doesn’t look absurd though! As for bridesmaids, if you lighten the colour of your dress, then you may also find that you have more options in terms of the bridemaids. What time of year and where are you getting married? Do you have your colours chosen? That will help us come up with some potential ideas. My instinct is to put the bridesmaids in something very simple in a contrasting colour, so as to set off the detail in your dress – I would probably go a steel/dusky blue tulle/soft jersey material with your current colour dress I think without any other information.

I think the color is great on your skin but agree with the others on the dress.

I would also suggest next time you go to with your hair styled a bit and maybe light makeup if you plan to wear any. I feel like it will give you a better vision of how you might look on the actual day. I went with no makeup or hair when I tried on dresses and it threw me but then once I did my fittings and happened to have my hair and makeup done it was 100% a different experience.

I’ll be honest and say I don’t think this dress does anything for you.  However, this is a terrible photo so it is possible that is adding to it.

If you already have the dress could you take a front on picture in the dress tonight and people can advise on alterations or a better shape for you?

I love that dress!  I think it’s flashy and fun and stylish.  My opinion is get the correct alterations and go for it.

Yes, more pictures would be awesome! My best friend lives out of state so unfortunately I didn’t get to dress shop with her the time she actually purchased the dress she wore. She bought two dresses, and from the pictures she sent of the second dress I was seriously thinking WTF, no no no!!! BUT, the pictures just sucked and it needed altered. She was so beautiful on her wedding day. I’m actually tearing up thinking about it. Lol. So…my point is I wouldn’t rule out from our thoughts on it because as everyone has mentioned the picture isn’t giving us a good feel…and alterations can change a lot about the way a dress works!!

Duska :  Did you choose the dress because it might fit your Great Gatsby theme?

It fits the theme and is pretty, but the fitting seems off. Do you have enough time to bring it to a seamstress to look at it before you return it?

Much better picture! With the right under garments and alterations I think it deserves a thumbs up!! I would go for it… I love that it’s unique yet still feels bridal!

I think this colour is amazing on you! For bridesmaids, maybe go with gold or peach, depending of your wedding style.
