Please help! I love my dress, but i need to decide whether to have the belt sewn into the dress seams so the back of the dress is clean and allows the corset and train to shine – or to leave as is with the bow and ribbon? What do you think?

First, your dress is gorgeous and it look fabulous on you!
Normally, I like a sash to be tied into a bow, but your dress has a lot of detail on the back and the bow is a bit distracting. I would have it sewn on. Good luck!

Ive never been a fan of the tied sash in the back, and with your dress, it’s no different. I’m for sewing the belt in! Your dress is gorgeous, btw!

Pretty! My dress is somewhat similar although the tails of the bow are not as long as yours so I have no choice but to sew it onto the dress. Someone did mention to me though that if you don’t want to sew it on, you could potentially wear it with another dress someday. Might be nice to incorporate part of your wedding dress into your wardrobe or you could pass it on to a future daughter. Something to think about.

Definitely sew it in so it doesn’t chop the back detail in half.

I’m having the EXACT same dilemma, except my sash is black. I voted for sewing it in, because I think that is what I am leaning towards, but I am still unsure! This is helping me out a bit though so thanks! Lol 🙂

Gorgeous dress! Because the back is so busy, I would sew the sash to the front of the dress and chop off the ends in the back. You don’t need anything hanging down.

because of the corset i voted sewn into seams to keep the lines cleaner

sew it! that way there’s no distracting from the gorgeous back view! 🙂

Thanks all you lovely ladies! I think you have confirmed for me what I have to do! Sew the belt into the seams it is! 🙂

I’m going to go against popular opinion here and say to keep the bow. A true corset ties in the middle, and when I first glanced at the photo I thought the bow and ribbon were just part of the corset lacing. I think it’s gorgeous the way it is, and although the back of the dress has a lot going on I think it adds even more beautiful detail! In fact the first thing I thought when I saw your dress was, “Oh that bow with the long tails looks super beautiful with her dress.” (I adore your dress too, do you mind me asking what designer or brand it is?)

@Miss Mauverick: agreed 🙂
I think the bow takes away from the gorgeous corset back !

@WhiteLotus: I love your moniker – I have used White Lotus for years for online profiles! 🙂
The dress is one of the new 2012 Sottero & Midgley dresses.

@Miss TNK: Really? That’s awesome! I just started using it fairly recently, within the last year or year and a half. But it’s a good name, if I may say so myself. 🙂
And thanks for letting me know! I’ll be sure to look at that collection.

As everyone has mentioned … gorgeous dress! I vote to definately sew the belt onto the dress. The bow/ribbon distracts from the V of the corset.
