I would look into moissanite, it’s amazing, but I’m biased 🙂

@VictorianChick: I believe they have the same setting in different stone sizes. The one we draw in store was made for a 1 carat stone, so they ordered a setting made for a 1.5 carat stone for my ring.

try Brilliance.com’s custom ring service. They quoted me 1/2 the price anywhere else quoted me and I’ve heard good things about them. email [email protected] because their online form didn’t really work and Kirsten got back to me asap by email!

@VictorianChick: They have a video of the custom process and they can replicate any design. I have a friend who used them and her ring is gorgeous! they do palladium, plat or any of the golds. they are NOT alloyed with nickel either.

Email I got from Kristin: “It is not alloyed with nickel. It is alloyed with silver and 58.5% gold for the 14k and 75% for 18k. The white hue comes from the addition of palladium, zinc, copper, tin and manganese. It does not wear off until about 18 months. It is a great plan though, to have plated once a year. We will do that for you under our Lifetime Warranty. The design fee goes toward the total. It pays for the drawings.”

Yup, their warranty covers re-rhodium plating it when it yellows as white gold always does. just ship it back and they’ll do it for ya!

@bunnyharriet:  You can get them to make the setting and ship to you- just specify the stone size and shape. Then buy your own loose stone and have it set locally.

This is what Kristin replied to me about them setting the stone for you if you send it to them:

“It’s $100 to set the stone for you. You can check around to see what the cost for setting would be locally and if you get a better price, yes, have it sent and set locally. “

@lilsweetie:

Do you mind posting a pic of your ring and saying what it cost?
