My Future Mother-In-Law does not have any money available for clothes as she is on a very strict budget. I talked to my fiance and asked if we could buy her a new outfit for the wedding. Thats all fine hes happy about that (they are quite estranged so im trying a little at a time to include her)
The dilemna is that she is quite conservative. We are having a wedding on a farm, reasonably casual. The guests are coming casual however my mother wants to be dressed up so its only fitting so does my Future Mother-In-Law so she doesnt feel under dressed.
Any ideas – its going to be damn hot. Shes in her 60’s. Any pictures/styles to look out for?

When you say conservative do you mean she dresses very modestly? Or that she wears more traditional styles?
How about giving her a gift card to a store and a picture of what your mother will be wearing (so she understands the level of formality to go for) and letting her choose her own outfit?

What about a linen dress and jacket? I’m thinking a sleeveless dress with a 3/4 sleeve jacket. This way she is able to cover or uncover and a long dress would still bring some formality while linen is not warm. The only problem is that linen wrinkles. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Spiegel-Garment-Washed-Misses-AUBERGINE/dp/B00579WDAY/ref=sr_1_4?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1326113746&sr=1-4
and a potential jacket http://www.amazon.com/CROSS-DYE-LINEN-JACKET-BROWN/dp/B004LUQ13K/ref=sr_1_7?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1326113782&sr=1-7

I would take this opportunity to bond with her a bit and have a shopping trip. That way you can get a sense of what she likes, what suits her, and you canpay for it there and then.
As for what to wear, almost any outfit is instantly glammed up with a hat! A simple linen dress with a jacket instantly becomes dressy with a nice hat. Also, if she’s dressed in a similar colour to your wedding colours, it will also look rather nice.
And don’t forget to find out colour your mother is wearing so they don’t end up looking the same.
PS. Outfit idea.
Simple, conservative, summery & hat adds WOW factor!

@Over the Moon: yes very modestly, old fashioned aswell. Slacks with silky shirts, hair in braids.
@BerryBerry: @slicey19: these options are great. Im loving the suit with the hat. Thanks both of you for your links.
I hadnt even thought of a hat but your right, they do glam it all up. I am taking this opportunity to spend some time with her. Last night when I called her she was unbelievably excited.
